Colby woke up to his alarm as soon as it went off. He didn't want to, but he knew he had to. He quickly packed up his bags, and moved on. He knew where he wanted to go next, his mothers favorite Flower Grove. She loved it there. Her friends would go there all the time, they would all sit around reading their books and crocheting. Colby was the only boy there. He'd rather go there with his mother and crochet and read with his mom and her friends, instead of playing baseball with the other boys in his grade.Colby knew he had to stop there before he actually left, he needed one more refresher of the place, in case he never came back.
It wasn't actually too far away from the park, so he knew he couldn't stay long. He knew the most his father would do to look for him was go around the block in his truck, and if he didn't find him, it was fine by him. He never liked that boy anyways.
Colby walked alone through the dark, and got there just as the sun was rising, but it wasn't getting much brighter. Was it supposed to rain today? He hoped not, one of the only things he didn't pack was an umbrella. He looked up the hill, the hill that his mother would take him to everyday after school. He decided he would sit on the top of the hill, overlooking the flower grove, and watch the sunrise. Then he would continue moving.
He had been sitting peacefully for about four minutes, before he felt a few raindrops on him. He was so exhausted, he didn't know what to do, so he just cried. He let the salty tears roll down his cheeks. Maybe, if his attempt would've worked, he wouldn't have this issue, he wouldn't have this much stress on him.
He heard a branch crack behind him, so he quickly turned his head over to see what it was. It was a tall boy, carrying an umbrella, and a camera. When he got closer, he had realized that the boy had short magenta dyed hair, and brown eyes.
"Hey, uhh.." the boy stopped when he got to Colby, "are you okay? You don't seem too good. Want to share my umbrella?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm okay. I think.. but I would love if I could share your umbrella." Colby nodded, and the boy sat next to him.
"My names Jake Webber, sixteen, and I'm a YouTuber." The Boy smiled and stuck his free hand out for a handshake, which Colby fulfilled. Colby recognized this boy, he went to school with him, and saw him come here a few times when they were younger.
"I'm Colby Brock, also sixteen, but I'm not a YouTuber. Me and my best friend Sam have been thinking about starting a channel, but we decided we want to wait a little bit." Colby smiled at the boy, and took his hand back.
"That's cool. What are you doing out here in the rain alone, anyways?" Jake asked Colby, a sincere look in his eyes.
"I was on my way to a friends house, but decided to stop here to watch the sunset. I didn't want to walk the rest of the way in the rain." Colby lied, blatantly lied to this sweet boy that was helping him."Oh, okay. I could wait here with you until the rain stops, or I could give you a ride?" The Boy offered, but Colby said no, he would be fine. He couldn't force himself to lie to this boy again.
Colby's phone kept going off in his pocket, so he took it out. In the group chat, Devyn and Sam were talking about him. About how they were coming over to his house, for the sleepover they were supposed to have at Devyns place.
'I'm sorry you guys, I have to cancel. I'm out right now, but I wish I could.' Colby sent the message, and placed my phone next to him."Why did you lie to them?" Jake asked.
"What?" Colby looked at him.
"Sorry for looking, but you told them you couldn't because your out. Why didn't you just tell them you had plans with someone else? Or is it me your lying to.. what's going on, Colby?" Jake looked at the brunette boy, a look of distrust in his eyes."Please don't tell anyone, and please, don't yell at me, I know what's best for me." Colby started and Jake nodded. "I ran away. I had to.. I wouldn't make it there. I ran away last night when my dad didn't show. I wasn't planning on telling my friends until I was farther away, so they couldn't stop me. I was so scared.. I still am.." Colby ranted out, and Jake looked him dead in the eyes.
"Do... you need somewhere to stay?" Jake asked. "I live in a house with my other friends, our parents let us move out early, you could come move in with us if you want. You seem pretty chill. I also don't mean that in a weird way, I am not trying to make you uncomfortable!" Jake suggested."Oh.. that would actually be really great.. thank you so much!" Colby smiled, and brought the boy into a hug. Jake laughed, and then hugged Colby back. "I can't explain to you how much this means to me." Colby pulled away, and smiled at Jake, letting a tear fall out of his eye once more.
"Hey, don't mention it." Jake smiled back, and cupped Colby's cheek, and gently wiped the tear away with his thumb. "We can go back to my house whenever you want, and I will always be willing to sugar daddy you." Jake joked.
"Thanks. We can go back whenever you'd like, it's your house anyways." Colby was slightly worried about the other men Jake said he lived with, but he trusted Jake, even if he had just met him. The look in Jake's eyes was so comforting, and truthful."Is now okay?" Jake asked, and Colby nodded. Jake stood up first, and offered Colby a hand, which he accepted. "My friends aren't mean, by the way. There's nothing to be worried about. We've been looking for a new room mate for a while now." Jake chuckled, and started walking to his car, Colby close behind.
"Are you sure they won't mind?" The brunette asked, to which Jake nodded.
"Positive. I'm surprised your coming with me, I'd be scared that I'd like.. murder you, or something." Jake looked at Colby. "Unless you were planning to kill me..?" Jake squinted his eyes, and both boys laughed."Nah, I wouldn't kill anyone, couldn't even- nevermind. I don't mind because I've seen you before. Well, my best friend growing up had a best friend who dated you. That was all they talked about, and since I was always with my bestie, you were the only person I heard about for hours straight. Also, I've seen you come here a few times when you were younger. I trust you." Colby shrugged, and got into the passenger seat of Jake's car, Jake getting into the drivers seat.
