"Okay, you all hide and I'll count to 10. Then I'll find you all!" You exclaimed, clapping your hands together. Draco, Astoria, Pansy, Daphne, and two other pureblood kids stood next to you, anticipating for when you'd initiate the game. You were all in the Malfoy Manor during one of the annual summer parties that Lucius and Narcissa threw. All the pureblood wizard families were invited, it was extremely fancy and well put together, with beautiful deserts that the kids always stole. The best part about it, though, was the room that was set up only for the children of the guests. Draco too, of course. He looked nervously at you, fiddling with his hands, "Wait, we can't make a mess in here, Father will get upset at me."
You rolled your eyes, "Tell them it wasn't you! Say Pansy did it!"
"How dare you! Don't do that, that's so mean!" Pansy squealed.
Astoria huffed, "Draco if you don't want to play, don't play. Hurry up so WE can play."
One of the kids laughed, "Yeah, go sit down if you're a biggg wuss!"
Draco fumed, turning to the kid, "I am not a wuss, don't you dare call me a wuss!"
Draco turned to you, determination in his eyes, "Fine. I'll play. But I want to count."
You frowned, "You can't, I'm counting!"
Daphne snapped, "Oh, hurry up you two! Or Im going to play something else!"
You and Draco stared at each other for two seconds, until you gave up the counting spot. He wouldn't have stopped until he got his way, anyway. All of the kids ran to hide as Draco counted, but you slid out of the room. That was against the rules, yes, but to an 8-year-old, rules are just words grown-ups said to stop the fun. The only ones who really followed rules were Astoria and definitely Draco. Astoria just liked acting grown up and said she saw the sense in rules. Draco pretty much followed out of fear. You, on the other hand, were a free spirit. You ran through the guests at the party, being careful not to bump into them, sliding through quietly to avoid causing a scene. That was until you ran into your older sister, Dahlia.
"Y/N, you shouldn't be out here, what are you doing?!" Dahlia grabbed you by your arm, stopping your running.
"Im playing a game! Im not hiding out here, I just need to go around the house to get where I'm-"
"No, Y/N/N, No. Go back to the room right now, before someone sees you!" Dahlia pulled at your arm in the other direction, and you started to whine. "Think about it, what would you do if you got caught?? Cry? You know the Malfoys don't like tears."
"No. I'd just lie, as you taught me!" With that you wriggled free, running away from her. Dahlia didn't chase you, that'd definitely cause a scene, instead, she nervously drank from her glass.
Up the stairs, past the elves, under the painting, and boom. You collided headfirst with something this time, it's what you get for looking behind you while running. The person had to be the same age as you, since you both banged your heads, and the impact caused you to both hit the floor. Tears welled up in your eyes as a ringing went off in your head, all the surroundings feeling stuffy and blurred. As your vision cleared and the tears fell, you saw who had hit you. The green in his shoes and the silver ring on his finger were a dead giveaway, even before your eyes reached his face. His cheeks were tickled pink, and he looked perplexed, his slicked-back hair sort of uneven.
"Uh- Y/N.." he started, but you cut him off.
"Why is your head so big?!?!" You exclaimed, tears running down your cheeks.
Draco's mouth stayed agape, his expression was unmoving. Then he regained his composure after the shock wore off. "Don't say that about me, I'm here to confront you! You know we aren't allowed to leave the room!"
