Draco enjoyed the times he spent over at your mansion. When you were both 10, he imagined himself as an Auror protecting you from the outer world. While you were playing in your garden, he stood guard, as if there were dark wizards on the loose. Sometimes you'd play along, pretending that you were being attacked and that when your cat leaned down to pounce, it was really a terrible witch casting a curse on you. Naturally, as a 10-year-old, nobody was trying to harm you in that way. Your greatest danger was the muggle child who came all the way to your mansion to pick on you from beyond the gates.

Malfoy loathed that muggle and would rant to anyone who listened about it. That foolish muggle, with his silly face, his stupid voice, outlandish fake clothes to make him seem 'rich' and his ridiculous dog walking around as if he owns the place, he'd think. The muggle avoided your home while Draco was there since Draco had insults that he was unable to counter. However, the kid did the worst thing he could when he mistakenly believed Draco wasn't there. Draco was in your house, looking for ice cream in the freezer, when he heard a scream from the backyard, followed by a dog bark and a loud chop. He dropped the ice cream and ran outside to find you by your large Magnolia tree, where you protectively clutched yourself. The tree's large branch, with its leaves and branches dangling off of it, was removed. Magnolias lie upon the grass like little shreds of ivory silk. There was a huge axe thrown over your gate, it cut a branch off your beloved tree.

"Thanks, I needed a stick for Duke here." The kid sneered, waving a fallen stick to his dog, "Maybe you'll stop sitting under that dumb tree all day and get a life!"

Draco ran over to you, completely engulfed with anger, stepping up to the gate with a glare, "Are you mental?!" He yelled, fury evident in his tone, "You could've hurt her! She could've gotten dangerously hurt, do you have any care at all?"

Defensive, the boy shouted back, "I wasn't trying to hurt her! I have perfect aim, and it was for the tree-"

"No! You were trying to hurt her. Hurting that tree is just as bad as striking her across the face." The muggle stared back at Draco, his confidence was evidently gone. He was scared of Draco, and it was clear. " You pathetic little tosser. How dare you disrespect her like that. Wait till my father hears, we'll have your family out on the street by Tuesday."

The kid's eyes widened, Draco's threats were definitely working. Yet he still tried to match up to Draco, "You can't. My families rich."

"Not as rich as mine," Draco stated, and he meant every word.

The kid stepped back once, then turned on his heel, running away with his idiot of a dog following him. Draco would've called after him, called him insults, or even tell him to turn around so he could see him cry. Yet all he thought about was you. He turned around, practically running to you. He expected you to be in tears over your tree, you loved plants wholeheartedly. Except you weren't. His eyes met yours. You were smiling slightly, a sad smile. A bubbly feeling boiled in Draco's stomach, a feeling he only felt around you. "Are you okay? Is.. is your tree okay?"

You looked at the tree, your smile widening, "Oh it's fine, more than fine really. And I'm just shaken up from seeing an axe fly directly past me!" You giggled, and Draco's face grew red, you couldn't tell if it was with anger or something else, "Muggles are unreal. And he thought he'd done something bad. How stupid, all it did was irritate me."

"Irriate? How are you not furious? He ruined your property! This damage can't be undone!" Draco seethed. You shook your head no, looking up at the huge tree. The broken leaves were floating down slowly, twirling in the wind gorgeously. He met your gaze, both of you watching the leave fall delicately to the ground.

You caught another that fell, pulling a jar from your pocket and scoping up the other fallen leaves before they could grow. "What are you saving those for? They're tiny, can't possibly be worth much." Draco asked.
