It didn't take long for school to come. It came so fast, that you and your friends had thought you had way more time than given and were still doing some last-minute fixing at Kings Cross Station. Smoothing down your new hair, you pulled a lipgloss out of your pocket. It was color changing and the flavor was strawberry butterbeer. Odd, but good, and pretty. You and your friends coordinated your outfits for fun, wearing the same green and black but in different ways. Astoria wore a dark green pleated skirt, with a black v-neck top, which complimented her dark hair beautifully. Her hair was curled slightly, reaching her shoulders, with a green headband decorating her head. Pansy wore something similar, except instead of a skirt she wore pants. Her hair was in her normal ponytail, two strands falling out the sides. As for you, barely anyone could keep their eyes off you. Out of the group of girls, you had the most developments: you changed the most over the summer. In contrast to Pansy and Astoria, your top was green, and you fashioned a black skirt with your initial in silver on one of the pleats. You had designed it yourself. Unlike Astoria, you wore stockings to protect your legs from the frigid breeze outside. You were waiting for Astoria to finish saying her goodbyes to her parents, your lips turning red in the cold. Pansy was tapping her foot impatiently too, both of you were ready to get into the warmth of the Hogwarts Express. But Astoria, the same one who insisted they should walk in together, was taking her time."Oh, and girls, make sure you stay out of trouble alright? I can't have any more letters sent!" Astoria's mother hummed, fixing the twins' hair. You tugged at your Slytherin scarf.
"We know, okay, whatever. We have to go or the 1st years are going to get all the good seats." Daphne insisted, swatting her mother's hand away. Astoria beamed at her mom like the good-2-shoes she is.
As The Greengrass parents dispersed into the crowd, a tall man whom you'd recognize as someone in your year slid towards you.
"Ladies! May I take your bags? You truly can't carry all this on your own." He spoke teasingly. Pansy slapped his hand once he reached for her bag.
You smiled sweetly, pulling your wand out, "Thank you, I know! But that's what we have magic for, hm?" With a swift wave of your wand, the trunks started to move directly behind each of you. When you saw the confusion on his face, you clarified," Now they'll follow us to our seats."
Walking past him, you entered first into the train. Warmth hit your face immediately, and your cheeks and lips felt like they were unfreezing by the second. It shouldn't have been that cold, considering it was only September, but despite that, the Hogwarts Express always knew how to warm up things. There was a buzz of laughter and spells as the train prepared to leave, first years practically breathing on the glass to look at their parents one last time. Nostalgia pumped through your veins, and your smile only grew wider.
Astoria hummed as she strut through the aisle. The first years cowered at the sight of her, she has quite a reputation. You were walking beside her- or kind of behind her considering how thin the walkway was, and someone was saying hello to you everywhere you passed. Honestly, you didn't consider yourself popular until Pansy pointed it out to you last year. It's all because of Astoria though, she taught you what you needed to build your reputation. You made sure to walk with your head high, not looking down at your feet. Pansy walked behind you, she had the meanest resting face out of all three of you. Not intimidating, just mean. Once all three of you entered the door, people stopped to stare. Everyone knew you all meant business, it was clear by just the aura that emitted while walking past.
"Hey, where did you learn that spell anyways Y/N/N?" Pansy asked, scanning the seats.
You shrugged, "My mom taught me."
