I spent the next couple of days getting ready for the wedding. Hair, wax all over, threading, and finding a dress. Alison says it's a country theme and it's going to be at the grooms family's huge property, so nothing too over the top, so I'll wear a black cocktail dress.
It would be nice to see some of Alison's family. I met a few of them through the years at family functions at Ali's parents house. A lot of them came to when Ali's parents had pass away. Ali was excited to show me some of her favourite spots she went to when she was a kid visiting.
"You're going to love it Sandra. It's the get-a-away that you needed right now. We're staying at the groom's grandfather's property. Apparently it's huge. My cousin says there's a few small cabins on the property. We're staying in one of them. There's the main house and a barn. That's where the wedding will be." Alison said as she was driving, "it's a very private wedding. Only about 150 people. I think he's rich or something." Alison added.
I smiled out my open window. Taking in the July breeze. It felt good to get out, "sounds great." And it was; although I wasn't sure how I'd feel on the wedding day, since I was still licking my divorce wound, but it's nice to get away and the wedding isn't for four days.
"I also ask my cousin to tag some hot guys for us." Alison said with a smirk.
I looked at her fast, " I hope you didn't. Some of them are your relatives. I'm not flirty or sleeping with any of them."
"What about the grooms side. They're not relatives!" Alison said with a sense of excitement.
"Ali, I'm here for the get-a-away. Be on my own and enjoy new sights. I'm not riding no one." I said in terms that hopefully Alison understands.
Alison laughed, "Easy cowgirl. I'm just saying keep an open mind to possibilities. "
I smiled, "let's sing." I said taking Alison's phone to put music on and trying to change the topic, "ahh here's a song for you." Cover Girl by NKOTB came on blaring.
Alison exaggerated her screamed of excitement and we both began to sing.
"If you could go on a date with any of the boys, who would you date?" Alison asked.
"Oh Ali. We're not 16 anymore." I moaned.
"No seriously. You always wanted Jordan. Is it him still? Someone else now?"
I haven't thought about my boy band crush in years. Life took over. It was so easy to fantasize back then.
"I don't know Ali. I don't really keep up with them anymore. Life, you know. " I said
Alison looked at me, "come on Sandy, amuse me. It's a long drive. We got time."
I smiled, I would dream that Jordan would show up at my parents door and ask my dad if he could take me out on a date. Being 16, I wasn't allowed a boyfriend until 18, but in my dreams my dad would smile at him and say yes.
"I guess it would still be Jordan." I confessed.
"Oooo" Alison teased, "the devious in his eyes makes him hot."
"Stop" I reacted.
"Have you seen him dancing on stage lately?" Alison asked licking her lips, "I want to be under him when he lays himself on the stage floor and grinds his... "
"Ok, ok Ali. Focus on you driving," i said as Ali gets the car back in her lane, "I don't know about devious, and no I haven't seen them on stage lately, but he seem sweet and dreamy."
Alison smiled, "You really are a sucker for romance, aren't you?"
I looked out the window and didn't say anything, i guessed my weakness to romance is probably how my marriage felt apart.
