It was October, and the fall season was already starting to dissipate away from the long, cold winters. I was happy to finally get my first real job at this local retail store, get some experience and earn some money with some of my free time.

I came in for my first shift for closing stock service and met the guy I would be trained by. He's 6'1 and has glasses along with long hair. His name was Austin, and it was nice that he was quiet like me.

"Hey, my name's Austin; nice to meet you," he stated, with a slight smile and his hand out for a handshake.

"Hey Austin, my name's Grant, I'm looking forward to learning from you and happy to meet you too!" I replied, with a smile on my face as well and shook his hand.

For the first couple of weeks, Austin trained me every time I came in for work, and I learned the basics and was able to appreciate the relationship I had with him and still do to this day. But something from that first shift still sticks to me even with all this time.

A big part of closing stock service is covering breaks for other positions such as the cosmetics section, customer service, and sometimes cashier. After covering cosmetics, Austin and myself had to go up to customer service and cover there. And that's where I met her.

She had perfect blue eyes, a beautiful voice, and so many things I could rattle off right now still to this day. Her name was Natalie, and little did I know at the time, this would be a rollercoaster that I entered into that's still going to this day...

Author's Note:
Grant and Natalie's first conversation will be in the next chapter :) and Grant's thoughts, of course, I hope this is a nice teaser for everyone reading this for what's to come! Appreciate you all always :)
