"Dad, I love you"

------------------------------------------------------------------

I groggily woke up to my alarm blaring. I turned it off and rolled over, trying to get a little extra sleep in. I was about to fall back asleep until my mom came in, taking the covers off my body.

"Mamááá!"

"Y/n cariño, if you don't get up you'll be late for school." I sat up with a groan and rubbed my eyes before standing up, looking around for my uniform. I found it and grabbed my phone, putting my music on shuffle and going into the bathroom. As I got in the shower, f/s came on and I sang along as I did my usual morning routine. When I finished, I grabbed my bag and made my way down to the kitchen, making a piece of toast and downing a glass of water before saying bye to my parents and heading out the door.

I kept my eyes glued on my phone, reading the latest news article about a villain Dad and I took down last night. I smiled at the comments about us, not really paying attention to where I was going, causing me to run into somebody. I fell backwards with a small groan and looked up at the person I ran into, quickly apologizing.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going.."

"I'm sorry too, I wasn't paying attention either." He held his hand out to help me up and I took it, softly thanking him while I dusted myself off in the process. I looked up at him and titled my head slightly before looking down at his clothes, realizing we were wearing the same uniform.

"Hey. you go to Brooklyn Visions Academy?"

"Yeah...how'd you know?"

"Your uniform. Want to walk with me?"

"Oh...sure"

"I'm Y/n by the way…"

"I'm Miles"

"Nice to meet you Miles." I gave him a soft smile as he scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment before putting his hands in his pocket and starting the walk. We walked in a comfortable silence and I looked around as we walked, humming along to the music playing through my headphones. Although I had music playing, I kept hearing a faint hitting sound coming from beside me causing me to turn to look at Miles, seeing him slap stickers onto passing newspaper stands and telephone poles. I watched in amusement until he jumped up but landed the wrong way, stumbling into the road where a cop car honks. I help him up and check for any injuries as he mumbles something under his breath before the cop got out of his car.

The cop introduced himself to me as Miles' dad, Mr. Morales and offered to give us both a ride to school. I thanked him as I get in the car and buckled in as Miles did the same. Miles and his dad talked and I tuned them out, looking out the window and humming to myself. Once we got to school, I thanked Mr. Morales again before getting out of the car with my bags and walking up the school stairs. Miles started to follow behind me until his dad got on his speaker to finish talking to Miles.

"You have to say it back"

"Dad, are you serious?"

"I love you dad."

"You're dropping me off-"

"I love you dad."

"Look at this place-"

"Dad, I love you." I let out a small giggle as Miles dropped his head and sighed before responding in defeat.

"Dad, I love you"

"That's a copy. Tie your shoes please." Miles walked away in embarrassment as all the kids around him laughed and mimicked him. I waited for him to catch up to me and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Hey, I think it was nice. He was just showing his love for you"

"Well...he has an embarrassing way of showing it." I let out a soft chuckle before patting his shoulder and going our separate ways to our dorm rooms. We ended up with most of the same classes and we hung out between each class and at lunch. By the end of the day we became fairly close to each other and exchanged numbers.

I was lying on my bed, finishing some homework when I got a text from my dad, telling me to meet him at our hideout below the shed. I set my homework aside and put a hoodie on before sneaking out. While sneaking out I spotted Miles doing the same and laughed a bit before coming up behind him, spooking him a little.

"Where are you headed, Morales?"

"H-huh? I'm not headed anywhere. What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about how I caught you in the act of sneaking out. You don't have to be so nervous, I'm not going to snitch." I chuckled to myself as I walked past him and out the school doors. He jogged up beside me with a smile, mimicking what I had said to him.

"Where are you headed L/n?"

"Secret business" I held a finger up to my mouth and smirked. He shook his head and laughed. We ended up heading in the same direction and we talked about random things until we reached an apartment building and he stopped.

"Well, this is my stop."

"Alright Morales. Stay safe and see you in class tomorrow!" I smiled and waved to him as I continued my walk home. Once I got there, I snuck into the backyard and put the password into the lock on the shed. I got inside and saw him sitting at a desk.

"Hey!"

"Hey kid"

"So, what's up?" He turned towards me with some documents and we started discussing where Kingpin could show up next and how we'll capture him. After going over his plan we started to train with each other, working on our special skills and combat training. A couple hours passed and I was laying on the floor, trying to catch my breath. I finally got up, tired and sore from all the fighting and dust myself off.

"I should head back now before it gets too late… Goodnight dad."

"Goodnight kid. Don't forget our mission tomorrow."

"Got it boss, Sleep well" I playfully saluted him before waving to him as I left the hideout. As I snuck back into the school I couldn't help but to wonder if Miles made it back yet. I shrugged it off and headed back to my dorm room, being too tired to even think straight. I plopped down into my bed and got comfortable, quickly falling asleep.

I woke up and stretched with a groan, turning my alarm off. I laid there for a bit before finally getting up and getting ready for school.
