You were once told everyone in this world was created equal. Such Bullshit. Some are given chances that place them far above the rest, while others face setbacks that force them to watch as others thrive and prosper. And you? There's no question, you definitely fall beneath the second category.__________________________________
"Y/n, hurry up or you'll be late for your first day." Keigo yells downstairs from your room.
You walk to your mirror and yell back, "Be right down!" You look at your reflection flattening out your shirt and fixing your hair and think to yourself.
It's time, the start of everything you've ever wanted. Or at least what you've been told you've ever wanted.
You run down the stairs of Keigos house and meet him in the kitchen. He stands there holding your bag and a lunch bow with a huge grin on his face, "So ya ready for your first day of school y/n?"
Smiling you walk over taking the bag and lunch, "Oh yeah, I couldn't be more pumped."
He starts to laugh but stops, his face turning serious as he looks at you, "Y/n, you know how important this is to you. Everything beyond this point and for the rest of the school year determines your entire future."
"Yeah, that's kinda how high school works," you say nonchalantly.
"But it's different for you, you know that. You're a....special case." He says struggling to find the words to describe your exact situation.
You shake your head turning for the door, "Yeah yeah, people are gonna be watching my every move and constantly making sure I'm in line with their rules. What's new?"
"What's new is that they're not villains, and they won't kill anyone you care for." He says making you stop dead in your tracks.
At the mention of death you turn back shooting him a glare. Keigo suddenly bursts out, "Sorry!" But then he hits head and glares right back at you, "They're sure as hell gonna on the lookout for that y/n. You're not even supposed to have that power remember? So don't use it."
"Then don't bring up my past. It's like a trigger for that power Ke." You say rubbing your neck knowing deep inside he's right.
Everything is riding on this. I can't let any emotions get in the way of what I'm coming to UA to achieve.
He places his hand on your shoulder gently, "You're right, I'm sorry kid. But don't worry, no one at UA will know the full extent of your past. Obviously due to how widely covered your rescue story was, some stuff got out. But for your family and how long you were held captive, that's kept a secret held by the governor and the hero committee."
You give him a fake smile, "Oh well doesn't that just make me feel better. I'm like the new face of hope for UA. That's probably the only reason they let me in, it's good for publicity," you step away and give big show hands for Keigo, "Imagine it! Former villain hostage turns to the very same job that saved her: Heroism!"
He laughs for a moment struggling to regain himself. After taking a breath he looks back you, "I can't 100% guarantee this was out of the kindness of UAs heart, you're right, but what's it matter? You're there, and it's all you've ever wanted right?"
Ah, there it is. The poison question that always leaves my mouth dry, hanging open, and searching for the simplest of words.
You finally muscle up the words and simply nod, "Yeah, you're completely right."
"Alright then, you ready?" He asks with a genuine look of care in his eye. You've missed that look for a long time.
