"Aunty Reeca you can go now, I promise I'll be fine ok?" I told her

We were stood in my new apartment that she had helped me set up over the past few days. It was finally finished and looked real good.

"Child hush, I know you're gonna be fine but I just have to be dramatic first." She explained

"If only your mom could see how far you've come, I know she's smiling down on you through every new step you take." She added

"I wish she was here... but I'm just as lucky to have you in my life." I said truthfully

She smiled at me before going into her back pocket and taking out a thick envelope then handing it to me.

"Here Nini, this is what your dad wanted me to give you."

I opened the envelope and saw thousands of dollars along with a debit card and a note written by my dad. I read the note and chuckled at how dumb he was.

Emani if you reading this, that mean your aunty didn't steal the money like I thought she would. Spend the money on the card responsibly because it's supposed to last you at least thirty years. Anyway welcome to adulthood, I'm proud of you and I love you. ~p.s use some of the money to buy a gun

"Well I guess it's time for me to head out now, but trust and believe I'll be back regularly to see what you got going on in here." She told me

"Yes aunty Reeca." I chuckled

"No boys." She added

"Yes aunty Reeca."

"Seriously cause your dad will break out of that cell and fry that ass. Then I'll fry it again on top of that." She continued

"Bye aunty Reeca." I sighed and shut the door

Her and my dad love to team up and dictate everything I do, it's giving they don't want me to have a life. But one thing about me, imma live.

I sat down on my couch and yawned. I was tired as hell with all the moving and unpacking I had to do. My phone vibrated and I checked the caller ID before picking up.

"Oop, fuck you looking so depressed for?" Simone said through FaceTime

"Well hello to you too." I mugged her

"I'm not depressed, just tired as fuck." I yawned again

"You better wake that ass up, we going out tonight remember?" She said
