Rain

I looked around that part of the city. There were a few big, heavy cars and buses but hardly any scooters or bicycles.

Big cities like this one usually have more two-wheelers than four.

This was quite strange. Could someone have taken them. Were there others out there? I had mixed feelings about this.

(smack)
I slapped myself across the face.

Don't delude yourself. Believe only what you see. But be wary of anything dangerous. If you want to survive, that is.
Wasn't this the first lesson after watching so many horror shows.

I thought a bit more objectively.

Scooters are generally light as they have smaller engines. They might have been destroyed, but so many when this area still had a few buildings standing?

I thought of going into the parking lots of one of the buildings. But..

I stopped myself. The parking lots are generally underground. If I'm in there and these unstable buildings fall. I'd be dead before I could blink.

I found three scooters.

I tried one of them, but the keys were missing. One of the two had the whole engine gone. The last one had it's front part separated from the dipped area where you can keep your legs. I was no machanic. I couldn't possibly have fixed them.

For the first one.
I had hoped someone in a panicked state might have left the keys in the keyhole.
I searched around for something like a key.

I found nothing except scraps of metals and some wood.

They were also too heavy to drag with one leg. I gave up on the idea. I thought of driving a car.

I got in. I found keys.

It was good I turned the key, I hd seen my father start a car. Turning a key should make some sound but there was nothing.
I tried one other bigger one.

It also had the keys, I turned it and did things like pushing the accelerater, that I could hardly differenciate from the break. I even tried moving the gear. Then the handbreak, but it wouldn't move. I wanted to just swear. I had too less knowledge and strength.I was frustrated but thought to myself, it was too dangerous anyway.

I gave up on the idea.

I had wasted lots of time. I got out the van like car. And started going towards the lake, just like that. Hours had passed. This area was quite desolate. The sun rays had gotten milder.

I noticed a house standing in the middle. It was small compared to the buildings but still. It must have been made of stone. Or like the tree, fortunately the buildings must have protected it.

I was thinking this and just then it...

(drip... drop)
(pitter...patter........shaaaaa)
It started to rain. There had been a few clouds but it was still like a blessing.

The cool drops falling from the sky touched my face that had turned red. I closed my eyes and stood there. The smell of the wet dirt. The sounds of drops touching the floor. My senses were pleased. I couldn't wish for more.

It went from a drizzle to a shower.

I drank some of it. My throat was parched. The water was cool and slightly sweet. It was so nice. I just stood there unable to move. My sweat covered body got washed by the rain. I knew I had to find shelter, but my body won't listen.

I felt so alive. The rain was falling heavily now. Each drop hitting my skin hurt. I had to find shelter. I hurried to the little house. I found some things that could hold water and placed them outside. I had stored some water now. After all I don't how many days it will take for me to reach the lake.
