-Flashback-
4/20/26 (the date of the flashback so canonically they are 22-23 which is of age)

Today was boring as hell, work was slow, life was slow. Too slow for my liking. I searched around on Facebook events to see if there were any events going on the first thing that popped up was a 4/20 festival , I totally forgot that it was 4/20. Maybe I could call Milly to go with me, I can't go to something like this alone. Besides I'm probably not gonna do too much.

I pulled out my phone and dialed in her number.

"Hello?"

"Hey Milly!"

"What's up?"

"Wanna go to this festival with me?"

"A weed festival? You know I don't do that stuff."

"Neither do I, but I'm bored as hell and I wanna go somewhere"

"This is so unlike you, but I don't want to risk this not being the new you soo"

"Is that a yes?"

"Of course! I'll drive! Be there in 10!"

Milly hung up and I let out a little laugh

Me and Milly walked in through the festival gates and I immediately took in the fast times, the bright lights, and all that festive stuff.

The place reeked of weed and alcohol, but it was something to do.

"Hailey! Look over there, you'll never believe who it is!" Milly pointed while looking entirely shocked.

I turned to look where she was pointing, I couldn't believe it. He left town with no warning years ago. Never thought I would see that face again, I kinda miss his sweet smile, so good to me, so right... if I'm being honest that is.

There he was, in the flesh.

"Should we go talk to him or book it the hell out of here?" Milly never talked to him after that incident, but I did... Well, I tried anyway, I think we all know how Zander is.

"Milly, I think we should go over there." I said

"If you say so, but don't you even think to blame me after he talks shit and I beat his ass." She smirked.

" trust me, if he does I'll allow you to raise hell.. as long as you play it off like you're high" I laughed.

The two of us started walking over to where he was sitting, surrounded by a bunch of guys I'd never met before.

"Long time no see, huh?" I smiled before nudging Milly with my shoulder thanks to her dirty looks and folded arms.

"It really has been." He smiled back before standing up with only a slight glance over at Milly.

"How have you been! Last time I saw you was what,  early senior year?"
