Bria stretched her arms out in front of her, groaning internally as she stretched her whole body out. She tried desperately to wake herself all the way up but the blackout curtains in the room of Israel's condo and the thunderstorm happening outside was making it almost impossible.
Then she smelled food, and her head popped up so fast she almost rolled it off her neck.
Putting the thick blanket to the side, she put her feet in her slippers and stood up from the bed. She had to walk slowly to the bathroom because she and Israel went a few rounds last night and he'd done his big one again, which was how she ended up falling asleep in the first place-and was probably the reason she slept in late as well.
After completing her morning routine, she walked out of his bedroom and into the hall that led to the main area of his condo. This wasn't her first time over so she mostly had a feel of the place.
"Good morning, Ms.Brooks. Breakfast is almost ready, I'll have it plated for you in just a minute. East is in his office if you're looking for him." A lady who she didn't know stood over the kitchen sink, and Bria gave her a soft smile before heading in that direction.
She turned the knob to his office door without knocking, walking in to see him on a phone call. He was always working, even on his off days. Bria loved how much of a businessman he was.
"No ma'am, that's fine. Yes. Yes, thank you. You too." He pulled his phone from his ear to end the call just as Bria walked around his desk, wrapping her arms around him from behind.
"Good morning to you too. You ate mama?" He turned his rolling chair to face her after she kissed his cheek, pulling her to stand between his legs.
"She said it'll be ready in a minute. Is that a chef? You know I would've been perfectly fine with cereal, right?" She rubbed over his braids, a playful frown resting on her face.
"Nah, I figured you would want a real meal after the night you had." He said with a sly grin, and Bria rolled her eyes while trying not to smile.
Israel granted the chef permission to open the door after hearing her knock, moving Bria out of the way so that he could see.
"Sorry to interrupt. Breakfast is plated on the table whenever you two are ready." She spoke in a heavy Spanish accent, removing the gloves from her hands.
"Thank you Heema. You can go, I'll clean up." Israel told her, knowing that she often stuck around to clean the house after cooking.
"Thank you sir. Have a good day Ms.Brooks." Heema waved to them both, and Bria thanked her, turning back to face Israel when she left.
"You got all yo' people knowing me by name and stuff. You love me huh?" She squished his cheeks in her right hand, listening to him laugh.
"Yeah baby. I do. C'mon." He chuckled, grabbing her hand to lead her out of his office and toward the living room.
