that following several weeks went on for what felt like years. Interviews and endless questions by Starfleet it felt like the Birmingham all over again
But. StarFleet confirmed their stories. The logs of the duplicate Sulu matched stories from Tadashi. Sensor and log data from the Excelsior's dead period also matched
The Farragut thoroughly scanned and investigated the planet finding signs of the energy life forms as well as the remains of some of the Excelsior crew
The remains of Captain Sulu we're found on deck 10 skeletonized he appeared to have died with a Phaser in his hand
The reason behind the Excelsior's duplication was still being researched but so far no one could determine any reason why her existence was a danger. Temporal Investigation determined no issue nor trouble and now her fate was in the hands of Starfleet
Tadashi sat at the bar in Quarks guzzling his fourth shot of Sake
"Bro bro bro?" Sato said rushing in
"Tell me we are free?" Tadashi groaned
"Better. Sulu and Fleet Admiral Jefferies want to see you. Asked to meet you on Excelsior?"
"Excelsior? Wasn't she taken to the Daystrom institution for research?" He asked
"Yeah I thought so but she's back. They said come now" Sato said and Tadashi sighed. "I swear anymore question's." Tadashi said heading out
It wasn't long before he was stepping out on the Excelsior bridge having followed directions from various ensigns
He saw Vanessa at the helm in full Starfleet uniform and Admiral Jefferies standing beside Sulu sat in the command chair. Sulu standing up and standing at attention with a sly grin
"Captain.. on the bridge" he said proudly
"Uhhh… I'm sorry, what's going on?"
"Tadashi… I've been talking with my fellow admirals and the CinC himself. Now your contributions have been invaluable not just rescuing Birmingham and putting an end to Borg activity in the Gamma and saving a founder which only strengthened peace. But Tadashi, clearly you're a better explorer than you are a cargo man. I know you never enrolled in the Academy but you're a damn natural leader and your crew agrees…. StarFleet isn't too sure what to do with this beauty and the CinC has given me discretion and I'm confident in my decision as is Admiral Sulu"
Tadashi felt a certain feeling like butterflies in his stomach. "..I…I..uh."
"Tadashi Ito at this time by the authority granted by me by Starfleet as Fleet Admiral of Starfleet operations I Hereby grant you a field commission of Captain and Hereby give you command of the USS Excelsior NCC-2000-A. Do you accept this sir?" He asked
"Tadashi… you are much like your grandfather Everytime I see you I see him. He was an explorer and he much wanted to be apart of Starfleet but fell into family tradition instead and while I respected that I always knew he'd much rather explore the unknown and that's what you do well.. and I can't think. Of abetter ship for you to do that with" Sulu added
"Sulu is right. And if you accept sir you'll be assigned permanently to this sector as support to Deep space nine as well as leading research and exploration missions into the Gamma. After she gets a few more upgrades of course no offense she is old" Jefferies added
"I..I'm not sure what to say" Tadashi said, almost choking on his words. So many feelings inside him. He never envisioned a life in StarFleet
"Say yes bro…" Sato said nudging Tadashi
"Can I keep my crew?" He asked
"Well as you see I have reinstated now Lt Commander Vanessa Edwards as your Helmsman. I've offered commissions to the rest of your crew as well whom are pending your decision. Obviously your mate is willing to join and Xall and his wife are willing. As for your brother and his ex drone friend well" Jefferies said
"Me and Felix are going to continue the Hayashi… it doesn't feel right leaving her behind and… well I think it's time I take over. I already found an engineer and a helmsman and they work for cheap too! Kira introduced me they're former Bajoran resistance fighters looking for new careers" Sato said with a grin
"You want this?" Tadashi asked
"It's time for a new chapter Tadashi. It's time for me to grow up and it's time for you to explore a new part of your life where you do what you're good at. And that's finding the new shit… ill take care of Hayashi. And the family business will continue " Sato said tears forming in his eyes
Tadashi had his own as he grabbed his brother and hugged him tightly
"We'll be in touch, we get to work in the same part of the Galaxy after all and I know who to call if I ever need help. I'll get to call the Excelsior to save the day" he said choking up
"You better be fuckin careful" Tadashi sniffed clutching Sato
"Admiral… I accept" he said
". Very well. Tadashi Ito. I, Fleet Admiral William Jeffries, the Third Hereby, commission you into Starfleet with the Rank of Captain and all the privileges that come with. And with that. computer. Transfer command codes to Captain Ito authorization Jefferies 114 Beta"
"Authorization accepted. USS Excelsior now under command of Captain Tadashi Ito" the computer answered
"Welcome aboard Captain do her proud like I know you will and humor a Old fart like myself and invite me on an adventure or two?" Sulu laughed taking Tadashis hand and shaking it
"Hikaru, you're welcome aboard the Excelsior any time you please. And I'd be honored" Tadashi replied
"Fantastic. Well Captain get your crew settled and you'll soon meet your others. There is a Question of who your first Officer will be. I do have an idea but if you have one I'd like to hear it" Jefferies said
"Obviously Thrall is my first pick. Not just cause he's my mate but because I absolutely trust him with my life." Tadashi said
'"hmmm well there are rules about senior officers dating sadly Captain but I've looked into Thrall and I'm satisfied letting him serve as a Chief of Security but as your XO I have to deny. Xall is going through some basic training as a StarFleet engineer in the meantime I have a Commander Fredrick serving as Chief Engineer he will get Xall up to speed. And Xall will ultimately take over. As for your first officer"
Jeffieres gestured to a door opening an a elder Asian woman stepping out
"Commander Demora Sulu" Jefferies said
"Demora?" Hikaru commented
"Hello Dad. "She said eagerly, hugging her Father. "A Sulu back at the Enterprise it only seemed fitting a Sulu took a spot back on the Excelsior hope you don't mind" she said
"Can't think of anyone better" Hikaru said
"Demora? I don't think I met her " Tadashi said
"Of course not you were in diapers and I was still playing with dolls," Demora laughed. "But Captain I'm.ready to work with you and see what we can do with this reli" she teased
"Way to call me old. Wait till your father hears about this" Hikaru said nudging her
"If everything is good. I'm going to leave you to get to know one another. Excelsior has no official orders yet as refit is undergoing but Tadashi you'll be due at Utopia nxt week. Maybe even give Sulu a ride home so to speak of he wants to wait. " Jefferies said
"You're damn right. I don't get to see my daughter too often. Nor my ship" Sulu laughed
"Very well. Good day gentleman and Captain good luck" Jeffies said entering a Turbolift
