Chapter 49 Call of Duty: Operation Snowcap Finish What You Start

Story Start: ATV Convoy En Route to Doto's Fortress Time to Arrival Five Minutes

Naruto eyed the convoy that was quickly making its way to Doto's fortress two hundred feet below him. It hadn't taken him long to catch up with the others now that stealth wasn't as big an issue as before. The few groups of Snow Shinobi that he had had come across on the way back were easily taken care of and sent back to the village with clones to ensure none of them got any funny ideas. Now all that was left was to capture Doto's primary base and then Koyuki and Sarutobi could hammer out the final details of the treaty and the mission could be considered complete.

Adjusting the angle of his hands to start his descent, Naruto sent a message to Foxtrot telling him to open the center ATV's hatch and easily landed in a crouch in the middle of the vehicle a second after it had finished opening. As the Navy man that had opened said hatch rolled it closed, Naruto stood up from his crouch and asked "Anything interesting happen besides running into Doto?"

Seeing Foxtrot shaking his head, he nodded and said "Well, the village is secure and all of the shinobi who weren't in it when I attacked are being rounded up by clone squads as we speak."

Sarutobi nodded as he said "Good work Naruto." Turning to Foxtrot, he said "Please inform Kakashi that as soon as we are in sight of the fortress I want the convoy to form ranks. Maybe we can talk the people in the fortress down from an unnecessary fight by a show of force."

Foxtrot nodded before he passed the message to Highlander at the front of the Convoy. Getting an affirmative, he nodded to the old veteran and said "Kakashi agrees sir."

Naruto hummed in thought before he heard 'Nile to Alpha, do you copy?' Cocking his head to the side, he sent back 'Alpha here, go ahead Nile.'

'We've reached the coordinates the princess gave us for Winter's End sir, and like you thought, it was under guard.' Nile, the leader of the squadron of clones he had sent to make their way as discreetly as possible to Winter's End in order to capture the no doubt heavily guarded machine sent.

'How many are we talking about?' Naruto asked and blinked at the number given. Jaw dropping a little, he sent 'You mean to tell me that Doto had only ten people guarding a machine that, with enough power, could theoretically change the entire planet's weather system?! What the hell has that man been smoking and where do you think we could find some?'

Nile chuckled at his creator's words before he sent a mental shrug through the link and sent 'Don't know what he was smoking sir, but I would put my money on finding it in the Land of Grass.' Growing serious, the clone continued 'Regardless sir, Winter's End is secured and, if what we're able to detect with a scanner seal we made is correct, fully operational.'

Naruto nodded and sent back 'Good. Stay on station and keep an eye out. I'll let you know when we have a timeframe for using Winter's End.'

'Understood sir.' Niles said before the mental link went silent and Naruto focused on the outside world again. Turning to the local princess, Naruto said "Ma'am, when I first left the convoy I had created a squad of clones to make their way to the area your father's project was in. Their leader just told me that they have secured the area and that the project appears to be operational.'

Koyuki gave a sigh of relief at the knowledge that the potential weapon of mass destruction was no longer in Doto's hands. Hand unconsciously going over the chakra key under her shirt, she gave a nod of thanks to Naruto before looking forward and said "My Uncle's reign is almost over. We just have to take out his fortress and my people can all sleep a little easier tonight."
