Story Start: Covenant Capital/Valley Rim, Ten Minutes After Arrival
"We're going to need more clones."
Matto's statement had proven prophetic. As was becoming increasingly common, the men and women of the LFNS Infinity were thanking their chosen patrons that they had Naruto Uzumaki Namikaze on their side.
The sight of a thousand clones transformed as ATVs rolling down not only the two high ways but the valley floor between said two highways was an awesome sight.
The transformed clones acted as disposable mine detectors and forced the Covenant to spread out their defensive fire, meaning that the only way to hit the actual personnel carrying ATVs spread throughout the back half of the group was completely a matter of luck.
Already ten of the vehicle clones had detonated hidden mines, thus preventing a Navy ATV from suffering the same fate.
And that wasn't even counting what the Original and the rest of Team Maelstrom were doing to contribute to the attack on the capital.
Diamond tipped arrows slammed into and in some cases, through weapon emplacements before exploding as A Class explosive seal tags detonated, one memorable instance throwing a tank a clear five hundred feet into the air before turning upside down and slamming down onto an artillery mount causing THAT to explode as well.
A four man fighter squadron of twenty five foot long eastern dragons made out of Lightning natured chakra terrorized the skies overhead, causing sparking air craft to fall to the ground, including several rather large craft that looked to have been freighters trying to escape the ongoing carnage and instead slammed down inside the city proper before detonating in beautifully massive fireballs that took out entire city blocks as their fuel tanks ignited.
All of that was impressive, but the real attention grabber were the ten clones that were transformed into thirty foot tall versions of themselves, launching Rasenboas that had Rasensurikens replacing the Rasengans.
If nothing else, all of the shrieking coming from the orbs as they buzz sawed through the city walls in order to detonate a block past them made sure you paid at least a small part of your mind to that group at all times.
By comparison, what the original Naruto was doing seemed absolutely tame in comparison.
Said Original was running up the massive tower in the center of the city, the madness of the currently ongoing battle on the edge of the city proving more than adequate to keep everyone's attention off of the tower.
In all of the confusion, Naruto had transformed into a local bird to get close, landing on an empty balcony five hundred feet from the bottom and kept climbing up the 'normal' shinobi way, periodically slapping some of Matto's S Class explosive seals on the tower wall as he went.
He was headed for the top of the tower, where Captain Iroh and he were sure that the leadership was. Just in case they were actually trying to make an escape, clones split off of him, going after all of the ships still docked on the tower so that way they couldn't make a run for it.
Needless to say, Naruto's weights were off and he shot up the tower faster than even the Covenant's advanced sensors could detect, rapidly reaching the top of the tower within minutes of arrival.
Naruto was heading for the top due to intel taken from the Base Commander that said that the Covenant leaders in charge of the citizens of this continent spent their time almost completely on the top ten floors.
