01: The Mystery of The Blue Bayou

The Camp

I still remember the time I witnessed the Blue Bayou turned red.

The Blue Bayou had always been Blue, and that bewildered the people since ancient times. For Bayous had never been this color before. At times it would appear Royal Blue, at some afternoons it would look Azure, and some cold, spring mornings, it would be Sapphire.

The morning bliss caressed my skin slightly rougher than all other times. I could hear the anthem playing from the quad, but never did I bother to lift myself and attend the ceremony.

“Ancient theories—suggested by prophets of each clan told us that, shall you look upon the highest point of the heavens, you shall see two of the brightest stars, near each other, in the heavens of Hevan—they call them Velie and Valeria: The Twin Stars. They do not twinkle like the rest of luminaries. Their light remains constant, they do not flicker but shine. The Twin Stars were said to be home of other galaxies. Of other worlds. Of other people. But,” he raised his head and stared at her eyes with such undefiance and longing. “When I look into your eyes, all those have no comparison—The Twin Stars, the vast heavens, the galaxies, the other worlds... For your orbs holds the most important world I ever came to know,” Prisipyuus softly uttered as he caught a strand of Heliarie’s hair and gently tucked it behind her ear.

I wrinkled my nose as I read the lines.

“Sweet words from your godfather Prisipyuus. Hell, if I did not happen to know what horrible things he'll do later on, I also would've fallen as a victim to his words too,” I mumbled to myself and carefully flipped the page of the book.

“Didn’t Prisipyuus dunk his son in Mt. Mirai though?” I whispered to myself.

I unforgivably imagined Prisipyuus dunking his son in the fire magmas of Mt. Mirai. Scary how these gods deceive you.

They will assure you with flowering words and sweet actions. They would do it until you believe it. Then, the moment you confess you are falling for them, they immediately become the devil. Their horns starts to grow, their fangs starts to appear.

The head of Prisipyuus’ son melted from the intensity of heat of the magma. It is said that the skull brought magic to Mt. Mirai, making it much more powerful. It is from the wisdomic mouth of the ancient tribes which the words came out: Mt. Mirai had a soul and is alive. It could eat whatever is thrown at it and it could reproduce.
