the bartender pt 4

i wake up to my alarm and smack it to turn it off, i hear a groan from beside me and look over at tom "sorry, did my alarm wake you?" i whisper, he groans and rolls over

i put my diner uniform on and go to work, its a pretty busy day but i get out at 1:30 today, i check my watch "10:45 okay" i think

the manager looks at me then points to table eight, its a little girl on her own,she looks about 10, i walk over to her "hi is everything okay?" i ask, they look at me she shakes her head, i look confused "whats wrong?" i ask, "my abusive dad is waiting outside for me and if i leave he is going to do bad things to me" she says

"okay stay here, im going to get my manager and see what i can do, okay?" i say, she nods her head, before i walk away i ask her what her name is, "my name is melody" she replies

i tell my manager and he tells me to take her out the back and take her to the police station and stay with her until something happens

i walk back to melody and take her hand, "come with me, sweetie" she gets up and grabs my hand tightly, i take her out the back and put her in my car, we drive to the nearest police station and they take her statement and i call the hotel manager

she doesn't answer so i leave a voicemail "uh hey Ashley im at the police station right now because of something that happened at my other job so i wont be able to make it into work today, sorry"

i call tom

tom: hey love whats wrong?
me: im at the police station and i probably wont be home for a while but when im home i'll let you know
tom: is everything okay?
me: yea i'll tell you later
tom: okay, uh by the way when your coming home stop by the store (shop) and get some ice-cream, your out
me: okay bye, i love you
tom: i love you more

melody looks at me "ew" she says, i laugh, "what?" i say, she turns her nose up "love is gross, i'll never fall in love", im about to reply to her when my phone rings, its Ashley

Ashley: hey y/n is everything okay? why are you at the police station, you know what im on my way, see you soon

she hangs up and i look at melody "my boss is coming so be prepared"

a couple of minutes later Ashley walks in "melody! oh my gosh your parents have been so worried about you, y/n melody is my goddaughter, you go to work i'll stay with her" she says, i leave the police station and call tom again

me: hey im out of the police station now and heading to the bar, wanna come?
tom: of course, be there soon, i love you bye

he hangs up and i get in my car and drive to the hotel

once im at the hotel bar i see the rest of the band with tom "hey guys, what can i get yous?" i say, they all order drinks

*a couple hours later*

i clock out and me and tom go home, tom is drunk and im exhausted, i put tom in bed and i go to the kitchen and sit on the counter with a beer, i normally don't drink but today was a long day
