tom plans a last minute date night

i wake up and look at my calendar, the 5th of October is circled, i look at my phone and see today is the 5th, i text tom

me: hey tom, you awake?
tom: yea im awake
me: what are we doing today?
tom: i have band practice until 7 because bill wants to make a new song
me: will i see you after band practice then?
tom: i dunno maybe
me: okay i love you
tom: love you too

i roll my eyes and my phone buzzes, its a message from bill

bill: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Y/N
me: thanks bill
bill: whats wrong?
me: i think tom forgot is our anniversary
bill: oh, want me to talk to him?
me: would you mind?
bill: of course not, i'll talk to him
me: thank you bill

i get changed into a baby blue summer dress and curl/straighten (ur choice) my hair and then i go downstairs and put on my shoes and grab my keys and bag "i feel like im forgetting something" i think

i hear a faint meow from outside "my cat!" i say running to the backdoor, i open it and my cat walks in and goes upstairs, i lock the backdoor and finally leave

i walk for about 20 minutes then i come across a fruit market, i grab a basket and i put some fruit in it, im about to pay when i see gustav "y/n!" he shouts

"hey gustav" i say, "happy anniversary!" he says, i laugh "thanks" he looks me up and down "i like your dress" he says, "thank you gustav, by the way is band practice on today?" i ask, he nods "yea bill and tom are already there and georg is on his way i just wanted to get them some fruit" he says innocently, i smile "okay thanks i really have to go now gustav so i'll see you later" i say

he turns around and i pay for my fruit, i leave the market and start walking downhill to the beach when my phone rings, i pick up and bill is panicking "y/n tom totally forgot about today" he says, "oh okay" i say trying to hide the sadness in my voice "im really sorry y/n i'll try and get him to do something"

toms pov

im tuning my guitar when bill comes up to me furiously "you seriously forgot about your two year anniversary with y/n what the fuck is wrong with you!" he shouts, "oh fuck is that today?" i ask him, "Oh FuCk Is ThAt ToDaY yes tom it is today and i assume you haven't planned anything" bill says angrily, i shake my head and i can feel bills angry gaze on me "i'll plan something after band practice, come on" i say

your pov

i sit on the bench at the beach, i sigh and the old lady that is seated beside me looks at me "boy trouble?" she asks, i nod, "would you like to tell me about it?" she says, "i don't want to bother you" i say, she shakes her head "nonsense, my name is rose and i will not be bothered by hearing your boy troubles"

i sigh again "okay, today is my two year anniversary with my boyfriend tom, he plays in a band and he forgot our anniversary, i don't know i guess im just upset because it shows how much he cares about me"

rose pulls out a hard candy "hm maybe he had a lot on his mind that your anniversary just slipped his mind" she says handing me the hard candy, i unwrap it and eat it, "maybe but his twin brother is telling him to do something for me later"

rose just looks at me then points to the sea, i look at where shes pointing "see out there, my husband is all the way over there on that small island, he's been working there for 15 years" she says, i turn to look at her but shes gone "what the fuck" i whisper

i get up and walk back to my house thinking about rose "where did she go, was she even there, she had to have been because i still have the candy" i approach my front door and i open it to see the back door wide open, i walk to the kitchen and see a note

meet me in the field behind your house at 9:30 i have something special planned

i close the backdoor then look at my watch '5:23' i walk upstairs and take a shower i must've lost track of time because when i come out its 6:45, i still have some time before i have to go to the field so i put on a movie

the movie finishes and i look at my watch 9:25 "SHIT" i say jumping up of the couch (sofa) i put on my shoes and run out the door i walk to the field and see tom sitting on a blanket "hi" i say, he looks up and sees me "hi, you look nice"

i smile and he takes my hand, i sit in the blanket beside him "im sorry i forgot about our anniversary y/n" he says "its okay tom, we are here together now so it doesn't matter, what are we doing anyway?"

he pushes my chest softly "lie down" i give him a look and he nods, i lie down and he lies beside me, he points to the sky "look at the stars" i look up and the sky is filled with stars "it's beautiful" i say memorised

tom grabs something out of his bag "y/n i have a present for you" i look over and see him holding a tiny bag "what is it?" i say taking it, he smirks "open it!"

i open the bag and theres a box, i look at tom and open the box, "a piece of paper?" i say, "read what it says" tom says "stand up and close your eyes"

i roll my eyes and stand up closing them, i hear rustling then tom tells me to open my eyes

i see him down on his knee with a shiny ring in his hand "y/n y/l/n will you marry me?"

my eyes widen and my jaw drops "are you serious, tom? of course i'll marry you!" i say, he puts the ring on my finger and stands up, he kisses me

we walk back to my house and i take a photo of me and tom and send it to bill

me: guess who's engaged?
bill: no way
me: yup im getting married to tom!!
bill: yayyyy congratulations!!!!!!

tom hugs me "im gonna go to bed" i hug him back "okay but first i wanna give you your present"

i hand him a box and he opens it "a key?" he says, i nod "a key to what?" he says confused "a key to my house, i want you to move in with me" i say, tom hugs me "of course i will move in with you, i love you y/n"

"i love you too tom, lets go to bed im tired"
