"What were you thinking Grace!" The principle spoke.
"Did you hear what he was calling my brother?" Grace said, looking down.
"It doesn't matter the circumstances. You can't pull out a knife on school property. Or anywhere for that matter!"
"It was a switchblade actually." Grace said sarcastically.
"Watch your attitude, or I'm calling your mother." Mrs. Evans said, leaning in from her desk.
"Go ahead. She's not around anymore." Grace scoffed.
"Right... but you have to remember there will be consequences for this... and let's not forget you skipped out on your detention."
Grace rolled her eyes.
Mrs. Evans handed her a piece of paper.
"Get this signed. 1 week suspension. If it's not signed by Friday, I have no choice but to expel you."
Grace picked up the paper, and walked out.
"Shit." She mumbled under her breath.

"No, no, no. You're gonna like it." Lip said, putting his arm around Ian.
"What am I even gonna say?" Ian said.
"You just gotta keep talking about science."
"I don't know anything about science."
"Okay, so just read from the table of elements... Cerium, erbium, praseodymium."
Ian looked down.
"Why the long face." Lip said, noticing his actions.
"I don't have a long face."
"Yeah, you do... girl troubles?"
"Pfft. Absolutely not."
"Okay, then what?"
"I got Grace suspended."
"What? How?"
"This guy was fighting me... cause I-I accidentally ran into him." Ian lied.
"Then she pounced on him and pulled out a switchblade." He finished.
"Jesus. Really?"
"Why would I lie about that?" Ian chuckled.
Lip walked up to Karen's house, and knocked on her door.
"Mrs. Jackson." He greeted.
"Ohh! Karen is thrilled with you. She got an A on her physics midterm. Karen. Honey, your little helper is here." Sheila exclaimed.
"This is my brother Ian."
"Um... I'm out of plastic bags. Why don't you leave your shoes out here... where they can breathe." Sheila stated.
"Sure."
Sheila closed the door on them, as they exchanged glances, and took off their shoes.

"Erbium, cerium, praseodymium, magnesium- " Ian spoke.
"You kids want some homemade lime chicken chimichangas?" Sheila interrupted.
"No, thanks, Sheila. I think we're fine." Lip nodded.
"No? All right."
"Praseodymium, uh, magnesium, sulfur-" Ian struggled, trying to ignore what was happening under the table.
