Stupidity

We pulled up to what looked like a really fancy hotel cause their were all these sports cars outside. We were escorted into an elevator and I attached myself to merritts side again, I didn't feel safe in this new environment. He put his hand around my waist protectively again.

The doors opened behind us and we turned to see a guy who looked like an older Harry Potter staring at us.

"Ta da!! Hello we'll be working together, just like a magician pulls a rabbit out of a hat so that magician is working with that rabbit. Hello im-"

"Your Walter Mabry, you died a year ago" Jack didn't look impressed at all, none of us did really.

"Yes an idea I got from you, the world thinks you died and they put their guard down. You see.. you all want an audience, need desperately. It's quite sad really." He started calling out old tricks we were embarrassed off and when he got to me he just stood there staring at me for a moment.

"Jessica Shrike, the legacy. Your reputations proceeds you" He looked at me for a moment longer before continuing to babble on like a monkey.

We looked over to the side to see something very techy in the corner. He said something about how we'll never guess how we did it, we all knew so one by one we listed off exactly what he did and he got frustrated like a child and grabbed Merritt by the face which made me giggle.

"Stop it! You may not be having fun but I am."

" You have an unusual way of showing it" Walter let go and backed away after muttering a small apology.

"The tube you meant to go down was 20 feet to your right, sit down, sit down. No need to stand" we were ushered to sit down on the couch. He explained how the patterns in the tube put us to sleep and we ended up in the back of a truck asleep.

"From there on it really was just fun, and I can assure you, you really don't know what happened" he turned on a TV infront of us and showed a sideshow of pictures of us asleep and in awkward poses. In one of them Walter was putting a bandage on my scraped knee.

"Okay so why are we here then, besides you getting to show off how adorably incredible you are" we could all tell Daniel was getting annoyed, and fast.

"Well it turns out the man you stole from last year, well I invested quite a lot of money into his company, so a LOT of what you stole...was mine. Good news is, it's very easy to pay me back. I just need your skills." He started explaining about how Owen took all the credit to a computer chip. And said if we didn't do it he would have us killed. We all denied...except Daniel.

"We'll get the supplies we need and we'll do it.

The next morning we were all on our way to the magic shop. We walked in and looked around. The grandson of who looked like the owner was trying to sell us random things. Daniel was talking to him while the rest wandered around. I noticed the grandma and grandson giving me small glances. I was standing with Merritt and Chase, Merritt convinced him to go out with drinks with us so the three of us slipped out.

We were sitting at a bar and I was letting them have their "family moment". I looked up to see Jack trying to hypnotise chase and just shook my head. "You suck Jack"
I stood up and grabbed merritt's hand.

We ended up back at Chase's pent house and we were all sat like students while Daniel make scribbles on the touch board to tell us the plan. Jack and I ended up teaching the rest of them or helping them brush up on how to throw cards cause they were really going to need to be perfect for this job. Then we practiced throwing a card to each other and hiding the card.

"Hmm I wonder which one of us gets to play the bimbo" Lula opened her mouth again.

"Shut up Lula I'll do it, you be the girl scientist" I pointed to a girl in another picture who was in a lab coat and looked very professional.
