Very annoying that there is no direct contact this deep within the belt. Dirk wrestled with his emotions; something that previously never interfered his decision making. His growing fondness for his two companions is making him question where his true loyalties should lie.

Not wanting to ruin her surprise, she stayed silent. As she continued to listen to Dirk's one sided conversation Nia's trepidation grew. After Dirk departed Nia emerged, she quickly pulled Adam aside.
In an urgent whispered voice, "you were right about Dirk, he is up to something. I overheard him having a conversation with someone. He was talking about objectives when we arrived at Egeria. Sounds like he is planning violence. I do not know who he is working for, but he assured them what he would "deal" with us when the time came"
Nia deliberately did not mention the part about Dirk confessing to murdering Adam's wife. She needed to keep this situation under control and Adam flying into murderous rage would complicate things greatly.
