"Far away from the busy Seattle life, at a ranch conveniently and coincidentally located right beside the Countryside Hotel, was a Horse Rescue. Operating for years and a family business with volunteers, it was simply called Seattle - or SHR Farm. It was a beautiful work, with incredible people behind it. That includes one young woman, barely turned 19, who's been there for years. Her soft, shiny and long pitch black hair was always styled in some way, a ponytail or a bun as she didn't know how to do braids to save her life, and a hat helped her hazel eyes deal with the sun.
Oh how she loved it, she was even gifted her own horse from the owners. She is so loyal to everyone who crosses her way, even to the most stubborn of the creatures who are always looking for a time to run away and get a little more food. In the case of her job, that meant being smart and trusting the other horses would not have the same idea if she was the only one working that day. Like moments ago."Waking up extra early was not really her favourite thing to do, but at least now she was doing so for something she actually enjoys and not you know, mandatory must go to school so you can graduate and have a life. Or at least that's what they told her.
Francesca Jones, or Chessie as she preferred , was always a very smart girl, getting the top grades and everything despite how unkind life was to her. She still has the sweetest and most unforgettable smile you will ever see, she's a fighter. I mean, she did get lucky in the foster family aspect. Going to a few and sometimes with one kid or another but always, very nice people. Her social worker played a big part in that though, but that's not the story for now. What we need to know is no, she never met her biological family and doesn't have any interest in doing so. She was just left in a hospital with no name whatsoever hours before being born, nurses literally did a random name draw that also included surnames, as apparently her parents managed to run away without leaving any trace behind. Sweet Chessie grew up playing a lot, she didn't get to do a lot of extra activities because you know, it's still the foster care system but how she loved playing with dolls and creating stories when it was "bring your toy day" at school. The first teddy bear she ever got? Somehow still fairly intact and perfectly placed on the top of her pillow. She was a nice teen, very moody, but not one to get in trouble. She was okay, a small but great group of friends that included one whose family gave her a job and a place to live after they graduated High School. Francesca somehow managed her Senior Year with two jobs on the top of it, and due to her birthday she graduated early, which for her particular case meant bye bye Foster Care System. Unfortunately no college for now, but that wasn't that bad since she never really knew what she wanted to do with her life and her perspective of future was sometimes very vague. For her luck, Thomas's parents needed extra help and had just rebuilt some areas of their ranch. The Seattle Horse Rescue. The condition was they would give her a minimum wage salary, as it was still a non-profit run by donations and fundraisers, but wouldn't charge for rent of a small cabin and food as mostly everything was grown there. They were just genuinely good people, don't ask me why. Now funny story, Francesca always loved animals but it wasn't until she was around 11 years old that she saw a horse for the first time. That was when she and Thomas started studying in the same class.
It has been little more than one year since she graduated and well, she's a natural. You know those people who yes, they work very hard but something in them is just so effortless?? Francesca was a great listener, she learned fast. She was on the ground a few times too, but got up stronger each time. For her first Christmas spent as with them, they allowed her to keep a horse who was brought in a couple of months before. Usually they come, get healed or trained again, then go to new forever homes in auctions that work as donations. The horse is a beautiful dark bay mare, her mane and tail being beautifully long and her coat naturally shines like no one else had seen before. She has a strong body, so she would be great for work but also, the best friend for a girl who just needed something in her life to be constant. "Beanie", how Chessie named her, was still very young so they would certainly have many years down the road.
