Frey is walking with Rhodes and Aimee in the hallway when they suddenly bump into Daniel.
Daniel: "Hey, Frey! How's it going?"
Frey: "Uh, hey Daniel. I'm doing good, thanks."
Daniel turns to Rhodes and Aimee, giving them a polite smile.
Daniel: "I don't think we've met before. I'm Daniel, nice to meet you."
Rhodes and Aimee introduce themselves, and they all chat for a few minutes before Daniel turns back to Frey.
Daniel: "Listen, I wanted to talk to you about something. Our music class is doing a final project where we have to perform a duet, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in partnering with me."
Frey's heart skips a beat. He's been trying to avoid Daniel, but now he's being asked to work with him on a project.
Frey: "Oh, um, sure. That sounds great."
Daniel: "Awesome! I heard your range in class, and I think we'd make a good team.
Here's a possible dialogue for this scenario:
Frey tries to play it cool as Daniel walks away, but he can feel his heart racing.
Frey: "Well, I guess I'm stuck with him as a partner now."
Aimee: "You could always back out if you really don't want to work with him. It might be awkward, but we could come up with an excuse."
Rhodes: "I don't know, he seemed nice enough to me. And he's got a great voice. Maybe you should give him a chance?"
Frey: "No way, you guys don't know him like I do. He's a total teacher's pet and he always has to show off in class."
Aimee: "Well, if that's the case, then maybe you could use that to your advantage. Just let him do most of the work and you can just coast through the project."
Rhodes: "I don't think that's fair to Daniel. He probably wants to work with someone who's going to put in effort and contribute to the project."
Frey feels guilty for lying about Daniel, but he's too afraid to admit his true feelings.
Frey: "Whatever, it's not like it's a big deal anyway. It's just a stupid project."
But deep down, Frey knows that this project is going to be anything but stupid.
Frey stands in front of the mirror, staring at his reflection. He takes a deep breath and repeats his mantra to himself.
"I am Frey. I don't get nervous around anyone. People are attracted to me first, and my attraction to them comes next if I really feel it."
He nods to himself, feeling a surge of confidence. He knows he has to look his best for Daniel, to show him that he's not just any partner, but someone who takes their work seriously.
Frey rummages through his closet, looking for the perfect outfit. He settles on a black shirt and a brown leather jacket, pairing them with slim jeans and polished boots. He runs his fingers through his hair, applying some gel to give it a sleek look. He sprays some cologne on himself, wanting to make sure he smells good for Daniel.
As he steps out of his apartment and heads towards Daniel' dorm, Frey feels a sense of anticipation. He's excited to work with Daniel, to see what they can create together. And maybe, just maybe, he's a little excited to see Daniel again too.
But most importantly, Frey knows that he has to carry himself with confidence. He can't let Daniel see any nerves or hesitation. He has to show Daniel that he's an equal partner, someone who can hold their own.
"I got this," Frey says to himself as he approaches the dorm. "I'm Frey, and I'm ready for anything."
Frey hesitates for a moment, feeling a bit out of place. He's never been to a frat house before and he's not sure what to expect. But he takes a deep breath, reminding himself to be confident, and walks in. The foyer is spacious and decorated with leather couches and old photographs. A few guys are hanging out, playing video games or chatting. Frey walks up to one of them, feeling nervous.
"Hi," he says, trying to sound casual. "Daniel sent me. We're supposed to practice in the music room?"
The guy looks him up and down, then nods. "Yeah, go down the hallway and take a left. It's the second door on the right."
Frey thanks him and heads down the hallway. He hears music coming from one of the rooms and follows the sound. The music room is small but cozy, with a grand piano and a few guitars on stands. Daniel is already there, tuning his guitar.
"Hey, man," Daniel says, smiling. "Thanks for coming. Sorry about the weird location. This is the only place we can practice without getting interrupted."
Frey nods, feeling a bit more relaxed now that he's with Daniel. "No problem. I'm excited to work on this duet with you."
Daniel grins. "Me too. You have a great voice, by the way. I heard you singing in class and I was really impressed."
Frey feels a rush of warmth at the compliment. "Thanks, man. I've been singing since I was a kid."
They start practicing the duet, with Daniel playing guitar and Frey singing. Frey can't help but feel a bit self-conscious at first, but he quickly loses himself in the music. Daniel is a great musician, and the two of them work together seamlessly.
As they practice, Frey starts to feel more comfortable around Daniel. He's funny and easy to talk to, and Frey finds himself laughing and joking around with him. When they finish the duet, they high-five each other.
"That was awesome," Daniel says. "We're going to kill it at the end-of-semester concert."
Frey grins. "Definitely. Thanks for being a great partner, man."
Daniel smiles back. "Anytime, Frey."
Frey entered the foyer of the frat house, looking around nervously until he spotted Daniel standing by the stairs. He walked over to him, giving a small wave.
"Hey, Daniel," Frey said, trying to act casual.
"Hey, man!" Daniel greeted him with a wide grin. "Looking good there. Are you sure you're not going on a date or something?"
Frey felt his cheeks flush as he tried to come up with an excuse. "Nah, I'm meeting my girlfriend later," he said, hoping it sounded convincing. "Just didn't have time to change after class."
Daniel chuckled. "Sure thing, dude. But seriously, you look great."
Frey smiled, feeling a little more at ease. He noticed Daniel's sweater and commented on it. "That's a nice sweater. It matches your eyes."
Daniel looked pleased at the compliment. "Thanks, man. It's my favorite. Ready to get started?"
Frey nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. "Yeah, let's do this."
Daniel chuckles and says, "Oh really? That's a shame. I was actually considering auditioning for Rent next semester."
Frey raises an eyebrow in surprise. "You're a musical theater guy too?"
Daniel nods. "Yeah, I've been performing since high school. I just didn't have the opportunity to do it in my previous college. But here, there are so many options and opportunities for theater."
Frey smiles. "That's awesome. I've always loved theater too. It's nice to have someone to duet with who actually knows what they're doing."
Daniel grins. "I'm looking forward to it. And who knows, maybe I'll convince you to give Rent another chance."
