Getting kicked out at the fragile age of 18 wasn't something Hyunjin hadn't expected.

He was aware that coming out to his conservative parents was not gonna end up well.

And on top of it, he had given in to his frustration of years and also blurted out the fact that he wasn't going to follow their footsteps into their family business, but instead carve his path as an artist.

AN ARTIST!!!

His parents had been aghast. Dumbfounded. Confused. And very very angry.

He remembered his father's sharp narrowed eyes and his mother's deep scowl.

He remembered the way they looked at each other and then back at him.

He remembered the way their eyes went cold and their expression went blank.

He knew at that moment that they had steeled their nerves against him and that nothing would budge them now.

And then followed the guilt trips, the harsh words, the threats, and finally, the ultimatum.

Choose to 'grow out of this phase' or get out.

Hyunjin had expected it all. He wasn't fazed the entire course of the argument. He knew what he had to do, he was ready for it. Just like his parents were.

And so, he had given them the cold shoulder, strode over to his room and picked up his bags that he had packed and shoved under his bed before the 'conversation', and left.

He had already called his friends in advance to pick him up.

And sure enough, Chan, Changbin, Jisung and Felix were there with the huge ass van that belonged to Mr. Han's travel agency.

Ready to help Hyunjin step into his new life.

They had smiled at him with sympathy but he knew them well enough to know that they were happier with his decision than him. They despised his parents. Never saw the good in them and never bought the excuses he sometimes gave in their favor as their obedient son.

Jisung even went as far as outright saying he hated Hyunjin's mother for how she treated him worse than his father. He had apologised later on, of course, but they all knew he meant it and truth be told? Hyunjin appreciated that at least his friend had the guts to say what he had been feeling his entire life.

He was lucky to have them. All of them.

They had supported him even before he had built up the courage to follow his dreams and accept the fact that he was gay.

And it was only because of them that he was able to walk out of his toxic life.

Working as a freelance artist for two years in secret—all with the kind help of Changbin's father—Hyunjin had surprisingly earned enough money to get himself a proper apartment and even have money left for his survival until his next sale.

Which was close.

The next art workshop was gonna be held at Leeum Art Museum in Hannan-dong.

And Hyunjin was promised the best deal in the workshop if he managed to sell even two of his art pieces.

Mr. Seo was the CEO of the biggest finance company of Korea, the Seo Finance Groups. And being an investing company worth of billions, it was fairly easy for Mr. Seo to start an agenda for arts after Changbin urged him to help his friend out. It wasn't all about kindness either. Hyunjin, Changbin, Mr. Seo and even the other boys were aware of it. The company was earning huge profits due to the sudden but secure attention such a reputed finance company was bestowing on the museums and art centres. And Hyunjin was benefitting from it in return too, after all he was the reason why Mr. Seo found such an amazing opportunity of investment.
