chapter fourteen:
' help me '
once dinner was over at the class 1-A dorm, the students dispersed for their nightly routines. Bakugo, Todoroki, and Kiyo went to their rooms to get sleep before their training courses the next day, the hero studies group met outside to talk about their mission, and the rest of the class sat in the commons area to drink tea and talk.Kiyo didn't go to bed immediately though, with her busy schedule of school and training courses she barely had the chance to focus on her music. lately she had been practicing with Jirou and teaching Sero the guitar, but for this one night she wanted to be alone in her music.
she grabbed her keyboard and sat it on her bed in front of her, playing around with the keys to get in tune before playing the familiar chords from muscle memory.
I've bandaged your bruises, you've held back my hair. who'd've known when it started, that we'd end up here?
Queen of the Night by Hey Violet had been a favorite of hers for years, so naturally she learned how to play it on piano. It was a comfort song she could listen to and play when she wanted to wind down.
there's something about it that brings me to life, yeah, I know all the consequences, I don't mind. this holy redemption tears us in two, but I can't turn my back to you.
as always nowadays, her mind drifts to Bakugo. he had completely corrupted her brain and she had no choice in the matter. she was absolutely drawn to him. and being with him more because of the training courses didn't help her try to stay away from him. he was everywhere. she hated it.
she didn't want to think about him, especially when she chose to give Sero that kind of attention. he should be the one she thinks about, not Bakugo.
she let out a deep breath as she completed the final note of the song. she sat there for a moment, her fingers hovering over the keys as she debated playing another song, but she knew she should go to bed. she had to wake up earlier than she liked to the next morning.
she pushed the keyboard away from her and was about to move from the bed to turn the lights out, but a sudden chill of cool air made her hair sway.
her balcony door was closed when she came in a few minutes ago.
her body froze in place at the realization. someone opened the door. they were in her room. her heart rate increased in fear. everyone was either asleep or downstairs, they wouldn't come in through her window.
"took you long enough," a raspy voice spoke from the balcony door, "was beginning to think you wouldn't notice me"
she couldn't recognize the voice and that made her fear rise. the fact that he was right, and that she couldn't even hear his thoughts worried her more. she's always been able to hear peoples thoughts if they were in the same vicinity as her, how was he different?
