I make my way down the stairs of our house. Darson thought it'll be good to move into his house rather than stay at the penthouse now that we're married. Well, we were married back then too but this one is different. Back then we married for our own personal interest and gains and now we've married for love.Love.
I never really thought I'd be saying this so...thoughtlessly. Without doubt.
My smile widens as a blush rise to my cheeks. I cover my face with my hands. "I suppose you're thinking about me in there." Darson appears at the end of the stairs with a wide grin. His light blue t-shirt and brown shorts is a new for him. He looks great.
"You wish."
"I know." I narrow my eyes at him as my feet hit the last step. I stand there to gaze down at him. "C'mere." I'm pulled in for a hug and can't resist the smiles and butterflies that envelope me. These creatures won't give me rest. If Darson only knows how much of an impact on me he has, he wouldn't let me live in peace. "Your heart is probably beating out of your chest right now." He's not lying. He's just...annoying.
"Darson-"
"I know because same here." I don't know what to say. I want to laugh but there's a seriousness in his voice that advise me otherwise. "It's the weirdest thing ever." My eyes find his, my hands still around his neck.
"Weird?" My voice is soft.
"Yeah. That even after knowing you for so long, I'm still ridiculously...scared? Nervous? Stunned?" I know what he means. "It's new and it's..." I kiss him very gently as to say I understand. It's how I feel too. I pull away. "And it's nice." He grins. I laugh along with him.
"What is? The kiss or the feeling of being in love?" I pass my hand through his hair. He gets more handsome by the second.
"Both." I playfully push him away and make a beeline for the kitchen.
"You did a good job cleaning up." The place looks pretty clean. Too clean if you ask me. I'd cut my sleep short to get an early start on the cleaning but he had already gotten to it before I got a chance to.
"As much as I would love to take the credit, my love, Laura did most of it." Laura? I enter the kitchen, my slippers tapping against the floors. Who is Laura? "I only took the garbage out."
"Laura?"
"Oh. She's going to help with the cleaning twice a week. I'll introduced you two later." I nod. "Is twice a week good or should I request to add on more days? I'll increase her pay." I shake my head quickly.
"No. Two days is fine. I'll handle the rest." It's what a responsible wife would do. Right? Look at me, trying to get into my wife role. Darson doesn't look excited about the idea. "Darson, we'll only really be home at night. The house doesn't even need that much cleaning. It's fine, really." He sighs but agrees with a nod.
"Sorry I had to push our honeymoon three days back." I turn on the stove and place the frying pan on it.
"It's fine. Wrap things up at the company." I slowly make my way towards him. "Prepare your heart." I stop in front him with a hand on his chest. "Because you're going to love me even more after this trip." Darson is frozen. It's funny really. I have to hold in my laugh so I don't ruin the little seduction game I'm playing here.
"Khara, you're seriously going to be in big trouble." His gaze is hot. Or I'm hot. I don't know what I am anymore to be very honest. Darson has a way of making me feel many things at once. I can't really put it into specific words.
Something hits the floor and I jump away from Darson. A woman stares back at us. She seems to be in her mid-forties. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were in here." I frantically shake my head.
