Another throb crossed my head.
I've felt this pain multiple times since that day. For some reason, it felt as if it was telling me to stop doing what I was doing, or so I presumed until I finally figured out the real meaning behind it.
We were in the audience hall, sitting on our VIP seats while waiting for the show to start. We were very happy but then a guard approached me and told me that Mom asked for my presence in the guest room.
What would she want from me? That was very unlike her. Usually, she would just do her own stuff while minding her own business.
Another pain.
Shit! Why the hell now!? Today I am having this pain a lot! Damn it!
When I entered the guest room I was shocked to witness Dupain-Cheng and my present classmates there alongside Mom.
A slight tension build up inside, "Mom, what are they doing here?"
"That doesn't matter now," Mom sounded cold.
"Why!?"
"When I said it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter!" She fumed in a strict and loud voice, "as for why you are here, Chloe, show me your handbag."
" . . . Why?"
They know. I know they know.
At that point, I realised that they knew that I had her invitation.
She eyes me for a moment before snapping her fingers as she ordered, "bring her here."
The next minute, two guards took the maid who I hired inside.
"Who was the one who ordered you?" She asked the maid.
"I—I'm sorry, ma'am," she was shivering.
"Who was it?" Mom pressed.
If this goes on then—!
"Mom, what is going on!?" I tried to act clueless.
"Silence, Chloe!" She was clearly angry. "I'm asking one last time, who was it?"
"It, it was her," she blurted out, pointing at me.
"WHAT? WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!? I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! I DIDN'T ORDER YOU TO STEAL HER INVITATION!"
"Chloe, never once have I mentioned that the matter was about stealing Marinette's invitation, how did you know?"
"I—"
"Stop it," interrupted Dupain-Cheng, "Chloe. It was you, just admit it."
Mom ordered the maid and the two guards to go outside.
Everyone there was glaring at me. Their eyes told me that they lost every last bit of hope on me and they will never be of any acquaintance with me.
"I . . . I did that." I admitted, taking the invitation out of my bag and handing it over.
I admitted not because I was caught red-handed but because it was Mom who was on their side . . . and Adrien as well.
"But I was not—"
"I never expected something this shameful from you, Chloe," Adrien finally entered by cutting me off, "I thought that when you are left alone you might reflect and become a little kind but I was wrong. Today, you really disappointed me. I thought of you as a friend but from now on I truly do not want to associate with you."
"He is right. You've crossed the limits," added Subrina.
Everyone started to leave by crossing me to the door behind where Alya, the last one to leave, gave me an intentional bump on the shoulder.
