"There's no spell to use ancient magic my dear," Trelawney said as she walked around the classroom, "you simply need to summon it from within, now take your wand and point it at this orb," she instructed.
"Are you sure?" Ivory asked uncertainly pointing her wand at the centre of the glass orb.
"As sure as I've ever been about anything child, this time you will get it, now brace yourself, it might be quite a bit of power, we've been training hard these past two moons."
"Okay." Ivory breathed deeply, she called to the magic from within just as Trelawney and the Ancient Magic book had taught her and pulled it to the surface, they had tried a number of times this session to no avail, she just hoped she would finally be able to do it.
"Now think of this orb as your enemy, you can only protect what waits for you if you learn to wield and control this magic you possess,"Trelawney said from behind, coaxing her.
With a firm grunt Ivory pulled back her wand and then pointed it aggressively at the orb she was knocked back as what looked like lightening escaped the tip of her wand and smashed the glass orb to smithereens and a light blue smoke filled the air.
"Wow," she said as she scrambled to her feet and immediately she was filled with melancholy, this is what Voldemort wanted her for, he wanted this power on his side, the ability to kill any creature even without a killing curse, this is what she was fated to do.
"Yes!" Trelawney exclaimed.
"Perhaps we can go into the Forbidden forest, there are enemies there on which you can test your powers," she suggested, her bangles tinkling as she moved hastily around the room in search of her wand, "Accio wand," she summoned when she couldn't find it.
"Not today we've already been at this for two hours, I should go to dinner Professor, perhaps next week, we could go," Ivory disagreed gathering her bag.
"Till next week." She waved and Ivory climbed down the ladder, wondering what she could do with the rest of her evening, Fabiola had her D.A. session and so she must've had dinner earlier to make it to the meeting on time.
"Arithmancy homework," she said to herself as she walked into the Great Hall. The Gryffindor table was fairly empty except from a few first, second and third years. Was everybody except her doing this D.A. thing?
She placed some rice on her plate with a healthy helping of chilli con carne, opening up her Ancient Magic book, it had become a leisurely read more than anything.
"Never thought I'd be coming down to this end of the hall, but you look so pitiful sitting alone it's putting me off my food." Ivory's eyes widened, Blaise Zabini was now sitting down next to her on the Gryffindor Table, he who hated everything that wasn't Slytherin. Blaise was actually fine company, he was quiet, minded his own business and was actually fun to be around in Ivory's opinion.
