"So that's the whole thing.." I nodded slowly.

"I can't believe their relationship is gone, like thin air," Cody muttered, confusion covering his eyes.

"I'd say the same but I don't know. I'm not sure if I have a say in this at all," I mused uneasily.

Cody nodded and used his phone. I didn't even needed to ask who it was; I already knew he was talking to Jeremiah.

"Cody.. Can I ask you something?"

Cody looked surprised. He angled his phone away from me in the attempt to hide his messages.

"What are you always talking about with Jeremiah?"

That question caught him in bewilderment. He ran a hand to his brown hair and looked like he was thinking of a lie to tell me.

"Uh.. Man business...?" He tried.

"Okay, I don't even care but if I find out that you actually told him that I'm pregnant then I'm going to kill you."

He looked relieved. "Of course, not. It's not my place to tell him."

"Good."

"Good."

We stared at each other.

"Are you excited?" He asks uncomfortably.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

I got a lock of my hair and twisted it.

"I'm talking about giving birth. You excited?"

Yes. I can't wait to see Jeremiah's baby. And as a bonus, I can't wait to workout so I'd look fit and supposedly pretty again.

I sound weird inside my head.

"Not really. I don't know," I lied.

"Okay."

He continued to text Jem, his face contorted into a serious look, like he was texting something controversial.

"Are you telling Jem about Tawni's relationship?"

He look appalled. "Yeah."

I rolled my eyes at him.

Jeremiah's POV

Scary how relationships end just by a few words.

"Tawni seemed to be really upset. I don't even know anymore."

I read the text with a sour taste on my mouth. Why does no one last with her?

"Jeremiah, have you computed the profits for next year?" Alida inquired, tapping her pen rapidly on her paperwork.

"Yeah. It's on my files."

"Okay. I'm just going through our papers before I submit them to dad. He's literally pushing me, Jeremiah." Alida stood from the table and slammed her fist on the nearest cabinet.

"I can't take it! Dad tells me to do this, to do that! What does he expect from me? I'm still in college! I don't know how to juggle everything and I'm guilty for not spending much time with my fiancé," she blurted out.

I smiled at her. "It's fine. I think you rock." I sent her an "okay" gesture with three of my fingers only standing up.

She broke into a giggle. "Sometimes I question your age. You remind me of my classmates when I was at high school. They're all about that gesture."
