Lila glanced at her phone as it started ringing, Jeremy's name flashing on the screen. She picked up the call, trying to sound composed despite her workload.
Lila: Hey, Jeremy. How's your day going?
Jeremy: Hey, Lila! It's been okay. The school was fine, but I wanted to ask if my friends can come over this afternoon. We have a group project to work on.
Lila's brow furrowed as she mentally juggled her responsibilities.
Lila: Hmm, I have a lot of work to finish, but I suppose it should be fine. What time do they want to come over?
Jeremy: Around 4:00 p.m. Is that okay?
Lila sighed, realizing it would mean she would be staying late at the office.
Lila: Yeah, that works. I might be working late, though, so you'll need to make sure everything's set up for your friends.
Jeremy: No problem, Lila. I'll take care of it. Thanks!
Lila: Just remember to keep the noise level down, you live downtown now.
Jeremy: Got it, Lila. We'll be quiet. Don't worry.
As they hung up, Lila's mind shifted to another concern. She hadn't given much thought to the food situation at home. With their busy schedules, they hadn't had time to stock up on groceries or plan meals.
Lila: (muttering to herself) Oh no, what are they going to eat? Why do I feel like a mother?
Lila sighed as she realized she wouldn't have time to deal with ordering food. Instead, she decided to reach out to Charice, who had been helping them with household matters.
Lila: Charice, I need a favor. Jeremy's friends are coming over this afternoon, and I won't be able to make it home in time. Can you please arrange something for them to eat?
Charice: Of course, Lila. Don't worry, I'll take care of it. What time will they be arriving?
Lila: Around 4:00 p.m., but I won't be there. Can you handle everything?
Charice: Absolutely. I'll prepare some snacks and finger foods for them. It should be enough to keep them satisfied.
Lila: Thank you, Charice. I really appreciate it. I'm just worried that I haven't been able to take care of things properly since we started living together.
Charice smiled warmly, understanding Lila's concerns.
Charice: Lila, being a wife and taking care of a teenager can be challenging, especially when you have a demanding job. But don't be too hard on yourself. It takes time to adjust and find a balance. It just feels weird to put wife and teenager together in the same sentence when you come to think of it.
Lila nodded, feeling a bit relieved by Charice's words of encouragement.
Lila: I know, it's just that I don't even know what Jeremy likes to eat. I haven't had a chance to cook for him or figure out his preferences.
Charice chuckled softly, her voice comforting.
Charice: Well, Lila, it's never too late to start learning about his likes and dislikes. You can have a conversation with him when you have a chance.
Charice: That's the spirit, Lila. Just remember, it's all a learning process. You'll figure it out, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.
Lila felt grateful for Charice's guidance and support. She knew that navigating her new role as a wife to a young man wouldn't be easy, but with Charice's help and her determination to understand Jeremy's needs, she was confident they would find their way.
