So, there I was, sitting on a couch, trying to survive this bizarre situation. I was doing my best to maintain some space between me and Adam's brother, who was acting all weird. You see, Adam had warned me that his brother was going through something called "heat," which happens to werewolves once a year. Usually, they have a mate to help with it, but poor Louis, that's Adam's brother, hadn't found his mate yet. So, he was basically trying to jump on anything that could breathe. I was desperately trying not to move because I didn't want to provoke him.
Then Louis asked, "Do you go to the gym?" He had this big grin on his face as he moved closer, like a hungry wolf getting closer to its prey.
Why on earth did Adam have to go to the bathroom now? Can someone come to my rescue?
I replied, "Nah, I don't. Why do you ask?"
And then he said something totally weird, "Well, your body looks great, especially your backside." I froze, not knowing how to react. I gave him a scrutinizing look hoping he would get the message, but to my despair he didn't care at all.
As Louis got even closer, I realized I didn't want to hit a werewolf in heat not knowing what effects it would have on him, but I would if I had to protect myself from that beast.
I thought, "Okay, just ignore him. He'll probably lose interest and find something else to do."
But then Louis added, "I wonder what it feels like when someone touches it," with his eyes totally fixed on my butt.
Well, maybe he wouldn't lose interest. Maybe I should put him to sleep with a spell or just punch him in the face, if that's what it takes. Something that would just make him black out and give me some free space and peace.
As he came closer and closer to me, I started to get irritated even more until he touched my hand and I hit my limit. I panicked and punched him in the face. I jumped off the couch, and Louis just touched his face, looking dazed. But then he gave me this creepy grin and started crawling on the couch to get closer to me. It felt like a scene from a horror movie or a really bad old adult film.
He even said, "I didn't know you liked this kind of game, but I'm up for it. We could even bring a leash." I was horrified. My whole body shook with disgust and fear. After everything I had been through in the last few hours, this was probably one of the most horrifying moments I had ever experienced.
Why is this happening to me? Adam, please, save me from this overly eager guy!
Desperate to change the subject, I asked, "Tell me more about your family," hoping to distract him from his inappropriate advances.
Thankfully, he stopped moving. He was distracted! I just had to survive this.
And then he said something even crazier, "There isn't much to say about my family. Adam is as tough as they come. Peter is a goth through and through. Marie is obsessed with finding her mate. My dad is all 'I'm the alpha, respect me,' and, well, I'm feeling a bit frisky right now. So, are you in, or are you in?"
This was too much. I couldn't handle it anymore. I begged, "No, I'm not in. When did you say will your family be back? Adam, get back here!"
Louis complained, "You're not helping with that attitude."
Adam returned to the room and said, "Yeah, how do you think I felt when I was with that ice-cold witch?"
I was on the floor, and Louis was on the couch, in a pretty inappropriate position.
I asked Adam, "Why did you take so long in the bathroom? Stomach troubles or something?"
Adam just teased, "Oh, didn't know you missed me that much. Developing feelings, are we? I'm sorry, but I'm not quite ready for a committed relationship yet."
Frustrated, I snapped, "Shut up. I just want to survive your horny brother before you take me to that coven you mentioned. I don't even know if they'll accept me into their circle yet. Why couldn't you take me to the coven right away? Did you want me to suffer?"
Adam tried to reassure me, "Well, I'd definitely accept someone as attractive as you into our pack." Louis, of course, couldn't resist chiming in, "Yeah, I would too."
I sighed and hoped Adam was right. I couldn't imagine finding another coven, and I definitely didn't want to stay with Adam and his overly amorous brother.
I asked, "Can I see your room? I've always wondered what a jock's room looks like."
Before Adam could answer, Louis jumped in again, "I can show you, my room. My bed is really comfy."
Seriously, why me?
Adam finally agreed, "Sure, I can show you, my room."
I rolled my eyes and sighed, "Of course."
Louis whined, "Hey, are you just going to leave me here all alone? I need action!"
We didn't respond, but I couldn't help laughing. Yep, let him suffer!
So, we finally made it to Adam's room after what felt like a never-ending journey through that enormous mansion. When we arrived, there was a sign on his door that said, "No entry without a bark."
I couldn't believe it. I asked, "Is this for real?" pointing at the sign.
Adam confirmed, "Yep, it's for real. Let's go in."
But before I could step inside, he blocked my way and said, "You saw the sign. You have to bark to get in."
I protested, "Oh, come on!"
Adam insisted, "If you want to see my room, you have to bark."
He asked, "Are you sure you want to be alone with my brother?"
I glared at him. I couldn't believe I was doing this. I reluctantly agreed, "Fine, let's make it quick."
With that, I barked loudly and stormed into Adam's room. I pushed past him, and he was clearly enjoying every moment of it. Inside, I saw what I expected: sports stuff everywhere and pictures of rock bands on the walls. But one thing surprised me. There were tons of books on a shelf near his bed.
I couldn't help but ask, "You can read?"
Adam was proud to reply, "Of course, I can read. Just because I love sports doesn't mean I'm an idiot. I'm actually one of the best students in my school."
I was impressed and admitted, "I totally underestimated you."
Intrigued, I approached the bookcase and began to scan its contents. I ran my fingers over the spines of different books, exploring the array of knowledge available. From novels and self-help books to vintage comic collections, the assortment hinted at a varied personality that I hadn't yet fully grasped.
Suddenly, I spotted a book that stood out from the rest. Its spine had the title, "The Nature of Existence."
It shocked me to realise that I had read it too. The book had made me contemplate and ask myself profound questions about existence. Memories flooded back from that time - my old self after discovering I wasn't like the others grappling with thoughts that surpassed the everyday life, pondering the meaning of life.
The fact that he owned this book, and presumably had read it, was surprising. He had studied the deeper aspects of human life, examining philosophical ideas that I myself cherished.
I was impressed by Adam's intelligence, which then turned into respect for his knowledge and depth of thought. Adam was clearly more than he appeared. The room seemed to have hidden secrets and things to find out that I hadn't yet grasped, and I couldn't help but feel a stronger connection to the golden retriever boy who, in a matter of hours, had become an important new step in my life. But before I could mention what I discovered; we heard a lot of noise from downstairs.
"Oh! I think they're here. Come on, we need to greet them!" Adam grabbed my hand, and we hurried down the stairs.
We were waiting by the door when it opened, revealing a middle-aged man with a beard, looking utterly shocked.
He asked, "Adam?"
