Chapter 11

Abby's P.O.V

Me and Pony's lockers happened to be next to each other so we grabbed our stuff for math and walked together to class. Once we got to class we sat next to each other and talked until the bell rang meaning class was starting.

"Good morning class. We will be working on pre-calculus again." Our teacher Mrs.Cathy said. There were a whole bunch of groans but Pony seemed excited.

"Nerd." I whispered and chuckled. He rolled his eyes at me and looked back towards our teacher. Our teacher handed out worksheets and my train of thought literally crashed and Ponyboy started scribbling down answers like the flash.

"Can you help?" I asked, giving him puppy dog eyes.

"Yea." He chuckled. He started explaining but I was still clueless.

"How do you understand all this?" I chuckled.

"I don't know." He laughed. He continued to try and explain it and I finally somewhat understood. I wrote down the answer and got it correct.

"This?" I mumbled showing him my paper.

"Yea!" He smiled. I smiled back and I felt my cheeks get warm. I felt stupid and embarrassed. I went to the next question and totally forgot how to do it.

"Ughhh." I groaned sliding down into my seat.

"What?" Pony chuckled. I felt my eyes fill with tears of anger and annoyance.

"It's ok." He chuckled and pulled me into a hug.

"I hate calc." I groaned, wrapping my arms over his shoulders and my face in the crook of his neck.

"I know." He chuckled. I pulled away from the hug and went to start working on my paper.

"I don't understand." I mumbled while a tear streamed down my face. I was so annoyed and embarrassed I was crying over something stupid like this. I scribbled down random answers after doing some work not even knowing if the work was right. I showed Pony my paper and he smiled at me.

"You got them all right!" He beamed with a big smile.

"I did?" I smiled sitting up in my chair.

"Ya!" He smiled even bigger.

"Thank God." I chuckled. Me and Pony talked to each other till the end of class since everyone was working on their paper and it was boring.

"Hey wanna go to the Dingo for dinner then the nightly double tonight?" He smiled.

"Sure." I smiled back and leaned my head on his shoulder. The bell rang after a little while, meaning the next class. We had science together, then Spanish, ELA, and lunch. Me and Pony then had gym, Social studies, physics, creative writing, then a free block which just meant me and him could get home earlier. Once we got to our lockers we grabbed our stuff and headed to science. We sat down at a table next to each other and waited for the bell to ring. It rang once we got settled in our seats and class started.

"Hello class." Mr. Lee smiled. There were a few mumbled 'hi's' but not much noise came from our class.

"Well we will be doing a partnered project and it will be with your table partners. You do not get to choose what it is on, for the most part. There are multiple things written out on the table. You will each choose one with your partner and during class start to plan things. This will be done outside of school or class so you will need to figure that out too." He smiled. I looked over at Pony with a big smile. He is my partner. I wanted to do the solar system so hopefully we could. I grabbed his hand while interlocking our fingers and looked over at him with puppy eyes.

"Can we do the solar system?" I begged.

"Sure." He chuckled.

"Yay! I love you so much!" I said, jumping up hugging him and giving him a quick peck. I heard someone 'ooo' behind us but I just rolled my eyes and sat back down leaning my head on his shoulder. Me and Pony got called and to our luck the solar system was there. I took the paper and me and Pony walked back to our table and sat down. I was so happy because the solar system was easy and I was excited. I rested my head on Pony's shoulder and interlocked out fingers. The teacher kept calling people so I spaced out and fiddled around with Pony's fingers for no reason. My eyelids started to become heavy out of boredom and just being tired so I closed my eyes as I still had my head on Pony's shoulder and our fingers still interlocked. I slowly but surely fell into a dreamless, dark, sleep.

Ponyboy's P.O.V

I swear I've never seen someone so excited over this simple of a project, then it clicked, that's why she was excited because it was simple and you didn't have to do much work. I shook my head and chuckled as I noticed this. She was playing around with my fingers with our hands interlocked and after a couple of groups got called she stopped and her breathing steadied and slowed. I looked down and saw she fell asleep. I smiled at her but didn't want to wake her so I just leaned my head on the top of hers and waited till the teacher finished calling on people. Once he did he started to explain and during it he looked at Abby and smirked and shook his head. I knew he wasn't going to wake her though. Mr.Lee is a cool teacher and doesn't mind too much of what we do. Once he finished explaining everything he gave the rest of class time, which was like 5 minutes, for us to socialize. I didn't do anything since I don't have any friends in this class and my girlfriend was sleeping on my shoulder. In the short 5 minutes the bell rang and I looked down and she was still asleep.

"Abbs, wake up baby." I whispered, kissing her forehead. She started to move around and groaned as her eyelids fluttered open.

"Morning babe." I chuckled.

"Morning." She smiled as her cheeks flushed. She sat up and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. I packed our stuff up and grabbed her hand helping her up.

"Sorry." She mumbled.

"For what?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Falling asleep on your shoulder. I made it so you couldn't move." She chuckled and scratched her arm.

"It's ok. I had nothing to do anyway." I smiled, wrapping my arm around her waist. We headed back to our lockers, grabbed our Spanish stuff and headed to Spanish.

**Time Skip**

It was now time for lunch and me and Abby were putting our stuff into our lockers.

"ELA and Spanish were so boring." She groaned.

"ELA is my favorite." I chuckled.

"Nerd." She laughed and pecked my lips.

"You guys are gross." We heard a mumble behind us and we turned around and saw Johnny.

"Hi Johnnycake!" She smiled.

"Hi Abby." He laughed. She jumped on my back and I stumbled because it surprised me but then I carried her towards the cafeteria chuckling. I let go of her before we walked into the cafeteria so we wouldn't get in trouble and she stood behind me in line. I guess she wasn't too hungry because she only grabbed a yogurt and an apple. I decided to pay for us both as she grabbed a glass of milk.

"2.45." The lunch lady said, sounding bored. I handed her the change and walked towards Abby who was walking back towards me.

"Let's go outside and eat." I smiled.

"I need to pay." She smiled back and started walking away.

"I paid for you. It's ok." I said, grabbing her wrist.

"Thanks babe." She smiled and pecked my lips. Johnny, Abby, Two-bit, and I all walked outside to eat lunch. I have no clue when Two showed up, he popped up out of nowhere and followed us outside. I sat down on the grass away from all the groups of people and Abby plopped next to me, followed by Johnny and Two. I began to eat my meatloaf and I kind of wanted to throw it out because it was gross. I decided to just eat my apple, potato wedges, and drink my milk. I grabbed mine and Abby's tray and threw the trash out and placed the trays with all the other dirty ones. I headed back and I saw Johnny looking terrified, Two-Bit glaring, and Abby with a blade to her neck. I stopped in my tracks and looked at Two-Bit who returned the same look back. None of the Soc's were facing me so I crept up behind the one with the blade to Abby's neck and tackled him. Everyone looked towards us which gave Two times to jump on the other soc. The soc I tackled pushed me off and went back up to Abby. I saw him slash her neck and I punched him. Hard. He fell to the ground and I kicked his head and he passed out. Two ran up to us and I was looking at Abby's cut. Her eyes started to flutter shut so I picked her up and ran into the school. I ran to the nurses office and grabbed the phone and called the DX. Soda picked up after 2 rings.

"This is the DX. Soda speaking." Soda said in his normal merry-go-lucky voice.

"Soda. Hurry. We need to go to the hospital." I said as my voice quivered. He didn't ask any questions, the line went dead and I carried Abby out the school doors to the steps. I was surprised no teacher asked what happened but our periods started again so I guess they were too busy teaching. Soda quickly pulled up and his face went pale when he saw Abby. I sat us in the back seat, her head in my lap. I raked my hand through her hair as tears trickled down my cheeks.
