Chapter 12
Malia's POV
The nurses and doctors were able to stabilize Stiles. In that moment my whole world flashed before my eyes. Something you never want to here is the flatline of the love of your life. All I could think in that moment was that Everly was going to grow up without her dad. He is stable now, we are just waiting for him to wake up. The doctors say it could be any time now. They say it is up to him on whether he lives or dies. I am just praying that he decides to come back to us. I feel like a walking zombie. I have probably only slept no more than twelve hours in the last few weeks. Mr. Stilinksi and I have been switching off between the hospital and home. Taking care of a baby is hard, but doing it without stiles is even tougher. If I am not here with Stiles, I am taking care of Everly. I am just glad that everyone has pitched in to help me with her.
"Malia, I brought Everly. She misses her mom" Mr. Stilinksi said as he walked in with Everly cradled in his arms. I have been silently sitting by Stiles' bedside, holding onto his hand.
"Thank you, I've missed her too. How did she do?" I replied taking her into my arms.
"She was an angel. How has Stiles been, any changes? He asked
"Still no changes. I don't know how much more of this I can take." I said
"I know, we just can't lose hope. I will leave you two. Convince him to wake up." He said with a slight smile, exhaustion clear on his face.
I watched as he closed the door behind him and looked down at my daughter. She is already three and a half months old.
"Stiles, I need you to come back to me. Your daughter is getting so big. We both need you. You have already missed so much. Everly has started to make adorable little noises. She also has started to smile. She has your smile. I don't want you to miss anymore. I need you to give me a sign, anything to let me know that everything is going to be okay." I said to him, trying to hold back the tears that don't seem to sop coming. I positioned Everly so that she could reach his had. She instantly wrapped her tiny hand around his finger. I looked back at Stiles' face only to be surprised by a twitch in his eyelid. I looked down at his finger and saw him move the finger Everly was holding just slightly. I quickly called a nurse. His eyes began to flutter open slowly.
"Mal" Stiles said with a raspy voice.
"Shhh, it's okay. Don't speak, your'e okay." I said gripping his hand tightly. I stepped back as nurses began to get to work. I didn't pay attention to anything they were doing or saying. All I could think about was that Stiles was awake. Everly seemed to sense that her dad was back because she gripped onto me looking up at me with a smile.
"That is right, your daddy is okay." I said hugging her tightly to my chest.
After a few minutes the nurses started to leave the room, leaving me alone for a second. I knew this alone time wouldn't last, so I made quick work. I marched over to him and gave him a kiss. Although the kiss was short, it was full of love and hope.
"I love you. I missed you so much." Stiles said in a whisper, afraid to use his voice.
"I love you too. Someone else missed you too." I put Everly down onto his chest. She immediately curled her body to his, looking up into his eyes. Stiles looked shocked to see his daughter. I could tell how relieved and happy he was to have her laying on his chest. We sat in a comfortable silence, both watching our daughter.
The alone time didn't last very long as I predicted. His doctor came into the room to take some tests and make sure everything was okay. I let the doctor do his thing while I ran out to the waiting room to find Mr. Stilinski and to call everyone.
