Aayna’s POV :-
His eyes were blades.
Not eyes.
Blades.
Rudra Rathore didn’t look at me like I was a girl anymore.
He looked at me like I was a criminal.
Like I was filth.
Like I wasn’t worth the air I was breathing.
“I didn’t do anything…” I croaked, tears already running down my cheeks.
He walked straight toward me.
Slow.
Controlled.
Dangerous.
I tried backing away again, but there was no wall left. Just me. And him. And his rage.
“Did I ask what you didn’t do?” His voice was low. Threatening. Sharp like glass.
My knees buckled.
He grabbed my face. Hard.
His fingers dug into my cheeks, jaw clamped in his tight grip.
“One. Last. Time.”
His nose almost touched mine.
His breath was heavy. Burning.“Why. Did. You. Kill. My. Sister.”
A choked sob escaped me, but I couldn’t even shake my head. He was holding me too tight.
“I loved her,” he whispered. “She was my only family. And you you were jealous, weren’t you?”
“N–no…” I whispered, lips trembling against his hold.
He gritted his teeth.
Then he slammed his hand into the wall beside my head.
BAM.
I flinched and screamed, covering my ears, sliding to the floor.
“Don’t play innocent, Aayna.”
His voice was pure venom now.
“Everyone saw how she ran after you. How she fell. How you just stood there.”“I didn’t push her!” I cried out finally, clutching my stomach, sobbing uncontrollably.
“I didn’t even touch her I was upstairs she was already”“You poisoned her!”
“No!” I screamed.
His boot hit the metal bucket near the door and it clanged across the room.
“You think I don’t know girls like you?” he growled, towering over me. “Sweet face. Soft voice. Act all helpless. Then stab from behind.”
I was shaking.
“I swear on my maa… I didn’t do it…” my voice was almost gone.
Rudra crouched down slowly.
“Then who did?”
His voice was quieter now. But darker. Deadlier.
“Who, Aayna? Give me a name. Or I swear on her pyre I will destroy you.”I looked up at him through my tears.
“I I don’t know…”
Wrong answer.
His hand grabbed my hair.
“Don’t lie to me!”
I screamed again, curling into a ball on the floor.
“I don’t know… I don’t know… please… I didn’t please believe me…”
But his hand didn’t let go.
And for the first time in my life, I realized something
Even innocence won’t save you when the world wants someone to blame.
