Rengoku sat in the butterfly mansion as his wounds were being cared for.

The sounds of water pouring filled the room as well as soft coughing and slight hissing from other demon slayers.

Rengoku looked at his hands and saw extensive blisters and burns covering them.

The door to the infirmary slid open, and Shinobu walked in.

She sat down and sighed.

"You have 2nd degree burns over most of your arm. Luckily, you only have 1st degree on your face and neck. But your back."

Rengoku looked at his arms and hands and frowned.

"30." He said softly

Shinobu looked up at him as he clenched his fists tightly.

"30 people died last night. I didn't save them all. Despite all my training, all my work. I couldn't do the one thing I was supposed to do. It was the one thing my mother asked me to do."

Shinobu put her hand on his leg and sighed.

"We lose people every day. But dwelling on it does nothing. We must move forward and be stronger than yesterday."

Rengoku still was frowning as she finished.

"Get some rest. Also, drink plenty of water."

Rengoku smiled at the joke as Shinobu got up and left.

He looked to his left and saw Uzui was in a better condition than him.

Rengoku took a sip of water and laid down.

He clenched his fists in anger at the thought of the events of last night.

He would need to redeem himself. Prove to his mother that he could save everyone. He wouldn't let anyone else die.

Tanjiro and Nezuko sat in silence in a dark cave as the sunlight taunted them a Meer 3 feet away.

Tanjiro just walked deeper into the cave.

Nezuko hopped up and followed him.

"The Hashira looked dead inside when we left."

Tanjiro smiled at her comment.

"That was the plan."

He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed.

"The sun should be going down soon."

Nezuko smiled as she skipped around.

"Good.....now we can train."

Tanjiro smiled as the two walked outside.

The sky was still pink, with the sun fully setting over the horizon.

"I do miss the sun." Nezuko said, smiling.

"I do as well." Tanjiro said, pulling his sword out of its sheath.

Nezuko summoned two blood kunai.

She had cuts forming on her body as blood poured down.

"It's funny, I don't even feel the cuts." She said, smiling.

Tanjiro held out his sword as smaller branches grew out.

"You know I don't like going easy on you." Tanjiro said, smiling.

Nezuko laughed as her body began to become hot.

"I won't hold back either."

Her forehead had a pink flame mark crawl across it.
