Newt's POV:
I felt like I was drowning in darkness.
When I was happy, it felt like I had a life raft.
I felt like I was drowning in darkness.
My life raft had broken a long time ago.
I felt like I was drowning in darkness.
Almost everyone I knew was dead.
I felt like I was drowning in darkness.
I was sinking, with no way out.
I felt like I was drowning in darkness.
I was sinking, with no way out.
I felt like I was drowning in darkness.
I was sinking.
I felt like I was drowning in darkness.
No way out.
Minho's POV:
I tried not to think of everyone.
Of everyone gone.
At least sleep was a relief.
Being with Newt was a relief.
God, if Newt wasn't here, I don't know what I'd do.
I fell asleep, feeling grateful to have Newt with me.
Newt's POV:
I woke up, gasping for breath.
The only thing I could see was darkness
I was drowning in darkness.
I needed out, I needed to get out.
My eyes adjusted, and with relief I saw the walls of my new house.
Our new house.
I got out of bed, careful not to disturb Minho.
I stepped outside, onto the sand.
The sun wasn't up yet, but the sky was brightening.
I started walking, I didn't know where. I just needed to move, to get away from the darkness.
I found myself back where we had slept the night before.
No one slept there now.
I guess they all had gotten houses too.
Then I remembered the gun.
I walked over to the pile of clothes, and reached my hand under them, until I felt the cold metal. I picked it up, and walked over to the cliff. I sat down, my legs swinging freely over the side. I looked down at the gun, turning it in my hands. The sun had started to rise, and the light glinted off of the metal. I turned it over and over in my hands. I closed my eyes, and just let myself drift in the ocean of darkness that had become my home. I heard a shout, and my eyes jolted open, and I flinched
"Newt!"
Ah, shuck. It was Minho.
Shuck, shuck, shuck.
What is he gonna think when he sees me with a gun? Alone?
I looked frantically around, and shoved the gun into a crack in the cliff just as Minho sat down next to me, his hair somehow perfect, while mine was a ruffled mess.
"Good morning Newt!"
". . .Morning."
Minho started talking, but I wasn't listening.
I was looking downward, at the sharp rocks and sand far below.
I would definitely die if I jumped here.
My body would wash out to sea.
No one would know.
How easy would it be to just. . .accidently slip off the ledge?
Minho's voice brought me back from the sea of darkness.
No, I was never out of it.
He just gave me another breath of air, everytime I talked to him.
Every Time I was with him
"Newt?"
I blinked
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
I smiled
"I love you too."
Then we kissed.
I had another breath of air under the waters of darkness.
But did I really want another breath?
