Ambers POV
I go upstairs with Mindy to talk about...You know.
"What the fuck?! Literally 6 minutes into the house tour and Wes manages to fall in love with Tara's cousin?" I say angrily, Mindy sits down on a toy box.
"Literally, I feel bad for T." She says, I pace around the room and bite my nails.
"Amber, you're panicking more than usual." Mindy says, observing my every move and gesture.
"Tara's gonna get her heart broken, I know it." I say, Mindy sighs and stands up.
"You really care for her." She puts her hand on my shoulder. I look up at her as she distracts me from biting my whole finger off.
"Of course I do, Wes is a narcissistic asshole with grey hairs at 17." I say, Mindy tries to not laugh at my expressive comment.
"Okay then." She says. "She won't get her heart broken, you'll make sure of it."
"Damn right." I sigh and sit down.
Tara's POV
The group splits up into groups of two and I'm the only one left, I shouldn't be but Wes is hanging out with his supposedly new girlfriend Ava. Jeez, can life get any weirder?
"Hey Tara, where are you headed to?" Auntie Linda asks.
"Just the bathroom." I smile, she nods and I walk to the bathroom. I close the door and lock it, looking at myself in the mirror with thoughts overflowing in my mind. "Hmm.." I grunt softly. Of course Wes would cheat on me with a girl he just met. Or not..? Maybe he's just being extra friendly, like super friendly. God what am I thinking. I turn on the sink faucet and splash hot water onto my face to sooth myself, I take a rag and gently wipe down my face.
"Alright." I say to myself before heading out of the bathroom to see the group all downstairs now.
"What's going on?" I ask, everyone looks at me.
"Your Dad wants to take us to a fancy restaurant for dinner, to catch up and stuff." Chad says, I nod and smile awkwardly as I get into the circle.
"Oh- hey Tara." My dad pulls me in for a hug and kisses me on the forehead. I stand next to Amber and smile at her, she returns the smile looking charming.
"So I was thinking that maybe we could go to the seafood place down the street? Its by the ocean and opens at 6pm." My dad asks, we all talk for a while and agree.
"Alrighty then, you kids go upstairs and change into something fancy." He says before going upstairs.
"Let's go." Amber says to me, I follow behind her up the stairs and we get to the room that we share with Mindy.
"Okay, I'm gonna try to sleep gracefully tonight so don't make too much noise, okay?" Mindy says. I look at Amber confused as she has her mouth wide open, I think for a while before I get what Mindy said, I turn red.
"Shut up Mindy!" Amber throws a pillow at her and she goes into the bathroom to change. I laugh and Amber smiles at me,
"So, what are you gonna wear?" She asks.
"I don't know, a dress or something." I say casually, she nods and sits down.
"TADAA!" Mindy says happily as she comes out of the bathroom with a very pretty wrap around dress on.
"Ate." Amber says, I laugh a little bit.
"You look pretty." I say, Mindy smiles and thanks me.
"You two can go get changed together now, I'll be waiting." Mindy says. "Don't keep me for too long." She winks and gets out of the bedroom, leaving me and Amber stunned.
"Or one of us can just go into the bathroom while the other one can change here.." Amber says, I nod.
"Yup.."
(A few minutes later)
I come out of the bathroom and Amber stares at me.
"What?" I ask, "Do I look bad? Should I change?"
Amber shakes her head, "You look gorgeous." She says to me, I blush and look her up and down.
"You're better." I say, she smiles. "Let's go."
We both head downstairs and everyone looks ready so we head out.
(At the restaurant)
Of course that bitch Ava had to come with us.
Ambers POV
Tara looks heated and I know why, it's cause Ava decided to tag along and her parents just can't say no.
"So, how's school for you guys?" Auntie Linda asks.
"It's okay." Mindy says and everyone agrees, "Kind of agitating to be honest."
Auntie Linda nods awkwardly and I look over to Tara who's eyes are feasted on Wes and Ava, they're way too close. I give her a little shake and whisper in her ear, "Tara?" She jumps.
"Huh?" She says, snapping out of her thoughts.
"You okay?" I ask her, she nods. She's obviously not okay. I look over to Mindy and she gives an annoyed look to Wes and Ava. I then direct my gaze to Tara and next thing I know she looks like she's about to puke.
"Uhm, please excuse me for a moment." She says, getting out of her seat and speed walking to the bathroom. Wes finally lifts his head up from Ava's boobs to look over to Tara.
"I'll be right back." I smile at everyone and walk after Tara. I get to the women's restroom and see her looking at herself in the mirror.
"Tara?" I say to her, she looks over to me then back to the mirror.
"Yeah..?" She says, sounding sad.
"You okay? You looked sick."
"I'm fine, just homesick." She says, I walk closer to her and she looks at me through the mirror.
"You can talk to me." I wrap my arms around her waist from behind, I can see her cheeks turn a tinted pink. She sighs and turns around,
"I'm just worried." She says, she looks like she's about to cry.
"You can tell me about it." I say, using my thumb to wipe a tear falling from her eye.
"I'm just confused about.." She looks at me, "Something." She adds on, I sigh.
"Is it about Wes and Ava?" I ask her.
"A little bit, but I have other concerns too." She says. "I'm confused about somebody, someone special." She adds.
"Who?" I ask her.
"I can't tell you that." She says, I sigh and look into her eyes.
"Well if you ever want to talk about your shit...I'm here." I say, she smiles. She hugs me and digs her face into my shoulder, I rub her back in circles and rest my chin on her head.
"I think Wes is cheating on me with Ava." She says.
