Chapter 1: Stealing & Drinks

"Grian, Grian wake up you buffoon!” Pearl said, kicking the side of the large bed. Grian turned over slightly, opening his eyes and looking at the brunette who was standing above his bed with her arms crossed. "You're supposed to get up at 6:30 Gri, it's 7!” She whined as Grian got up from under the covers and on top of them, crossed legged he replied "Pearl it's the weekend, couldn't you let me sleep in?”, Pearl shook her head "Sorry but I can't. You've got a shift that I can't cover” While saying that she pointed to herself and shook her head. Grian sighed "Why not?”, Pearl looked a bit panicked for a bit, looking to the side, before shaking her head and saying  "I've got plans”, Grian raised an eyebrow and Pearl added on "Just- C'mon!’. Grian smiled and rolled his eyes "Alright give me like 10 minutes” He replied, Pearl nodded "Mk!” she responded in her usual cheery tone before leaving his room. Grian stretched his arms and wings before hopping off his bed. He took a glance out of his window, being an avian made it extremely hard to see the glass but it didn't stop him from enjoying having his blinds open most of the time. Outside his window the sun was still set and the sky was still dark. Grian got dressed and brushed his messy blonde hair. He sighed, he didn't enjoy waking up this early for work. He walked downstairs and made his way behind the bar

She sat on top of the roof, it was 15 minutes before the store she usually robbed opened, she could've broken in but she was exhausted from a super late shift the night before, she rubbed her eyes, she cracked her knuckles and her neck. And stood up, nearly tripping over she steadied her balance, it was probably dangerous standing on roofs in heels but she didn't really care, she looked awesome and that's all that mattered. Placing her hands in her black jacket's pockets she walked across the roof for about 10 or so minutes. She heard the door open to the shop, she turned around and spotted a ladder she could slide down, as she slid down the door closed behind the store owner, she heard a window and went over to the door, this was the usual routine for the shop owner, they'd open the window and kinda just hang out at the store for a few minutes. The scarlet witch didn't usually sneak in through the window, she was saving that for a day when she was really tired and didn't have the energy for her usual break ins, and that day was today, she placed her first against the door and knocked four times, before quickly crotching down and moving over to the open window, she glanced up, seeing the owner walk over to be door, she took this opportunity to climb through the window, as she climbed up she saw a piece of string at the window ceil, she laughed to herself a bit quietly, they were trying to catch her, she stepped over the string as she looked around, however she heard footsteps and ducked under a counter, she also noticed a small gap between the counter and the wall, just big enough for her to fit her hand, she wriggled her arm up and grabbed something, she took her hand down and looked to see what she got, just some cat treats, as she heard the footsteps walk upstairs she ducked out from the counter, she looked around the room some more and eventually found a bag of candy and a piggy bank, she went to the rooms door and peaked to see if anyone was there, noone in sight, she shaked the piggy bank, making sure to be as quiet as possible, it sounded pretty full, she wondered if she should go for the cash register, but before she could make up her mind she heard more footsteps, she decided now was a good time to go

Grian sighed before sitting down on a stool behind the bars counter, placing his hand in his hair, he went to go check his watch but it wasn't there, he left it on his bedside table, he took his hand out of his hair and looked around, nobody was around at the moment so he went upstairs to collect his watch, as he went back downstairs the door opened, he looked over and saw a decently tall man with emerald green eyes and scars all over his face and arms and really just everywhere, the man walked up to the counter, sitting on one of the stools. Grian walked over "Hello what can I get for you?” he asked, sounding exhausted, the man thought before responding with a mumble that Grian didn't hear, "Sorry I didn't hear you” Grian told him, the man blinked before laughing slightly as he spoke "Oh uh sorry- don't worry about that”, Grian raised an eyebrow but the man just smiled at him, "Anyways could I get 2 glasses of your greatest wine!” he finally ordered, Grian blinked in confusion, the man was alone but wanted 2 drinks, he decided to ask as he crouched down to the area with the drinks, "Sorry for asking but uh...two? Aren't you alone?”, he heard a laugh as he got up, the man stopped laughing as Grian started pouring the drinks "I thought maybe you could join me” he replied, Grian stopped pouring, surprised by his response "but I don't even know you” he blurted out without thinking, the man gave Grian another smile "I know! But you look tired! So I wanted to offer you a break”, Grian thought for a second, he really shouldn't, he had a job to do, but then again, nobody was around, it was just him and this *strange* man, he looked to the side, smiling a bit before finally responding "Sure...that sounds nice”, the man smiled again, for the love of joel he smiled a lot, it was...nice, anyways he came out from behind the counter and sat next to him, "Say little birdie what's your name?” the man asked, "Grian” he replied, not looking at him, "Oooooo that's a unique name! I'm scar!”, "is that cause you have so many of them” Grian blurted out without thinking again, he looked up from the counter and looked at scar, "I'm *so* sorry”, scar just laughed "it's fine!”, Grian felt like covering his face out of embarassment but didn't, "But no...that's just a coincidence!” he answered, since grian was now looking at the man he couldn't help by inspecting him a bit, he was also quite nice to look at, Grian shook his head, looking back up at scars face, "Uh right- so scar...do you come here often-?” Grian asked, feeling awkward in the silence- and then even more awkward after he realised what he said, he'd *know* if scar came around here often, he worked there, "Nope! I actually just moved here!” he replied cheerfully, Grian weakly smiled, why was he being so awkward?

The scarlet witch grabbed out her phone, she probably should head home as she'd been gone for a good few hours, stealing from places. Something interesting she found was a new shop in a small village, selling potions and witchcraft related items, she also thought the topic of witchcraft sounded cool, she'd have to steal from it one day, the scarlet witch opened a window and got changed quickly out of her outfit, quickly also leaving through the window.

"Do you want me to pour you another drink?” Grian offered, pushing his stool back and starting to get up, but scar put his hand on grians arm to stop him, he shook his head, "I think I'll be fine!” scar told him, grian moved his arm slowly away from scars hand and pushed his stool back in, "if I didn't know any better it seems like you were just using the drinks to start a conversation with me” he mumbled laughing as he said it, he looked over at scar and scar shrugged- apparently he had heard that, "Maybe I did”, just as scar had said that, Grian heard a knock on the door, he quickly got up from his stool and opened it up, it was pearl, cheerful as ever, "Heyyy G I'm backk!” pearl said as she walked in, her hands in her blue hoodies pockets, Scar waved as pearl looked over, she waved back, "I can take the shift now if you want” she added on, grian looked over at scar for a second, he sighed and nodded "please do...” he muttered, he looked over again and saw scar do a fake pout, he laughed quietly at that. Pearl looked at Grian, confused on why he was laughing but she just shrugged. "I'm gonna take a nap” Grian told her, starting to walk up the stairs, pearl gave him a thumbs up and scar gave him a wave
