Chapter 15: Selv Om...
The Narrator
"Mystia?" Avery asks, her voice shaking slightly.
"Hm?" She snaps out of the trance state she was in, finally pulling her gaze off of Cassidy's hair. She squints slightly from the light pouring in as if she'd been asleep for hours in those few seconds.
"Oh, right. Uhm... I'm going to be honest with you since you all seem like wonderful people who don't like their time being wasted," Mystia begins, standing up and starting to nervously pace around one corner of the tent with the other four gathered around her.
"Yeah...?" Jayme urges, afraid of what she's going to say next as they all are.
"I don't know what this is. Well, I do, but I don't have the slightest clue on how to deal with it," she bluntly says. Her words send yet another ripple of disappointment through the group. James turns away and steps towards the other corner, Avery sulkingly takes a seat on the floor where she stood, Cassidy crouching beside her and rubbing her back comfortingly.
"Although..." Mystia's single word raises the mood of the room ever so slightly.
"A long, long time ago, someone came to us with this same ailment. We told him there was no cure, and he left. But since then, my ancestors had been working on a cure for these mysterious symptoms," she explains.
"So... you can cure it?" Cassidy stands.
"Not in this current moment. My mother abandoned the project and it was never completed, but... with our pooled knowledge of this... Curse, we might be able to complete my great, great, great grandmother's work," she offers triumphantly.
"Is it... actually possible?" Avery asks, getting to her feet with help from Cassidy.
"Who knows?" She laughs, picking up a few notes, an empty bottle and an assortment of herbs from the table beside her and getting to work.
