"SHE'S A TOTAL WITCH, BY THE WAY," Daphne warned quietly, eyes darting around the room before taking a seat at one of the lab tables. Miles sat down next to her, eyebrows furrowed.

Juliet had silently chosen to sit in the front row, not bothering to say goodbye to Daphne or Miles. Miles had shrugged it off, maybe they had assigned seats or something. It's not like he would really miss her sour attitude, anyways.

"What? I dunno, Miss Calleros seems nice," Miles noticed Daphne's face falling slightly when he took a seat next to her but chose to ignore it, seeing as how her playful smile was plastered back on not a second after.

"I didn't say she was mean, I said she was a witch. Be warned, nothing gets pass her," Daphne warned, taking out her Physics textbook as Miss Calleros began the class.

"Okay, everyone. Seeing as it's the first day back, we're obviously starting our new unit on..."

As the class droned on, Daphne had completely zoned out, choosing instead to quite literally twiddle her thumbs than to pay attention to the difference between elastic and inelastic collisions. She had way too much circling her head anyways, specifically her plans for after school. Would she be able to visit Di--

"Pssst," Miles interrupted her train of thought, poking her with a pencil to really get her attention. Daphne turned to look at him, raising her eyebrows expectantly. He whispered almost incoherently. "..ou...nna...do...so...thin...aft...sc...ool?"

"What?"Daphne whispered back, her brows furrowing.

"DO YOU WANNA HANG OUT AFTER SCHOOL?" He whispered harshly, annunciating each word.

"I'm busy," she whispered back, shaking her head.

"So is the class. So, unless you two want to step outside and finish your conversation," Miss Calleros glared at the pair, her hand on her hip as she waited for the pair to face the board again. When she was met with silence, she turned back towards the board. "Now then, let's get back on topic..."

Daphne assumed the conversation to be over and went back to planning out the rest of her day. If she visited the h--

A folded up piece of paper was slid to her side of the table by none other than her persistent table mate. She glanced at him, annoyed, before opening the note discretely.

i know a cool spot we can visit ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶

She raised an eyebrow, intrigued, and wrote a quick response before passing the note back.

is this your way of getting me alone in a remote location and murdering me ????? ( •_•)

Miles stifled a laugh, covering it up with a cough when Miss Calleros shot daggers in their direction again. He took his time scribbling on the small note before pushing it to Daphne with his pencil.

nuh uh.

i like my teeth actually. would not want the cameron incident to happen again.

n e ways ... my uncle showed me this cool rooftop spot a couple weeks ago and i go there sometimes to paint, just thought i shoooouuuld extend an invitation (- ‿◦ ) ?

A small giggle escaped her lips at the Cameron incident mention and Daphne considered saying yes before realizing who she would have to cancel on to make it. Yeah, nope. She wrote down her final response, sliding it over to him and focusing her gaze on Miss Calleros.

can't make it, sorry

Miles frowned, disappointed she wouldn't be able to hang out but assumed whatever she had planned was just really important. That, or she just didn't want to hang out with them. He prayed it was the former.

"Alright, class. Turn to page 154 and complete the worksheet. Just place it in to the tray if you finish early but note that it's due by the end of tomorrow."

The class immediately turned to the assigned page, beginning to work silently-- well, everyone except Daphne. Instead, she quickly took her phone out to send a text before putting it away. Then, she took out a piece of paper and began to sloppily doodle on the corners of the page.

Miles glanced at her from the corner of his, curious at how she didn't immediately start the assignment like everyone else had. Did she not get the lesson? Or was she just a procrastinator? He decided to write another note and hope he didn't come off as super annoying.

Daphne paused her doodling when yet another note made it to her side of the lab table. She sighed dramatically in feign annoyance, glaring playfully at Miles before opening the folded up piece of notebook paper.

u need some help?

She quickly wrote her response, pushing it towards Miles.

no way u actually understand this stuff ?!?!  -_-

He smiled upon reading the note, turning to her and grinning cockily before scribbling another response.

u don't?

O.O

maybe UR head needs to get with a bat so we can rescramble ur neurons

Daphne gaped at the note, discreetly kicking Miles' foot under the table. He yelped, pouting at his table mate before small smiles made their way to both their faces. She shook her head, amused before picking up her pencil to respond.

if this is what happens after u sit with my friends then yk what ...

(regina george voice)

u can't sit with us !!!!!!!!!!

Miles frowned slightly, writing down his confusion.

who tf

Daphne audibly gasped at the note, appalled. Miss Calleros' cold gaze landed on the pair. A thin, perfectly plucked eyebrow raised in annoyance, "Is everything alright, Miss Iglesias?"

Daphne's eyes widened, before she cleared her throat to try and come up with an answer. "I, uh, forgot to feed-- no, I, uh forgot to bring my favorite pen. Can't, uh, do my work without my favorite pen," she chuckled awkwardly.

Juliet, along with pretty much everyone else in class, turned to look at the girl with perplexed glances. Miss Calleros' pencil tapped on her desk, her gaze shifting from Daphne to Miles before landing back on Daphne. She sighed, going back to her computer but not before announcing,

"I doubt whatever Mr. Morales is writing you in those love notes is any more important than a college-level assignment, get to work and leave the chit chat for after class."

Miles and Daphne gaped at the teacher, faces flushing at their classmates snickers. Daphne went back to doodling on the sheet of paper she had abandoned, trying to avoid Miles as much as she could. Miles scratched the back of his nervously before deciding to keep going with the assignment.

He turned to look at Daphne after a second, a smile growing when he noticed the blush creeping up her neck. His own face heated up and he focused his gaze back on the assignment, a barely contained grin coating his face for the rest of class.
