"THAT WAS TOTALLY YOUR FAULT, BY THE WAY," Miles announced with a smile as the pair walked out of class, side by side. Daphne gaped at him, offended.

"You're the one who started sending the notes!" She accused, fiercely pushing her pointer finger on his arm. He laughed at her, not finding the small girl the least bit intimidating.

"I'm not the one who literally gasped in the middle of class because someone didn't know who Reginald George is."

Daphne shook her head in disbelief, her face scrunching in disgust at Miles' cluelessness. "Hello?! REGINA George is the greatest icon of our time, the best character in the cinematic masterpiece Meanest Girls. "

Miles shrugged, "Literally never heard of it."

"Oh you-"

"Hey, lovebirds." Juliet shoved her way in between the pair, wrapping an arm around Daphne and shooting Miles an undecipherable glance. Daphne scoffed, pushing her hip against Juliet's.

"Shut up. Oh, did you get my text?" Juliet nodded at Daphne's inquiry, the pale girl taking out her phone and dangling three pictures of their Physics assignment in front of Daphne's face.

"Have your precious answers right here, you got my payment?" Juliet placed her phone back in her skirt pocket as Daphne nodded, her eyes rolling.

"Yeah, yeah. He'll be at your dorm at seven, give or take an hour or so."

"Cool, see ya." Juliet kissed Daphne's cheek and turned to nod at Miles in farewell before turning the corner and leaving the pair alone.

Miles grinned, bumping his shoulder with Daphne's. "Upgraded from a stare down to a goodbye nod, I think my charm is starting to win her over."

"Charm? That's a funny way of putting it." Daphne teased, the pair continuing to walk together to their next class (and Daphne's least favorite) English.

At this point, Miles had gotten used to Daphne's sarcasm and if anything, enjoyed it. She was quick witted and funny, but still, there was a certain aura of mystery surrounding her.

Not mystery meat kind of mystery, but more of a puzzle kind of unknowing.

"What was that whole thing with Juliet? If you want I could teach you how to do the Physics assignment, I don't mind." He offered. Daphne shook her head, uninterested in the offer, having rejected it before.

"Ugh, the only thing worse than not understanding Physics is doing a bunch of work so that you can understand Physics," she laughed, shrugging. " I have a system and it works pretty well. I get free answers, she gets weed from my cousin. Thanks for the offer though."

Miles' eyebrows furrowed, "Oh. Do you do this for your other classes too?"

Daphne groaned, turning her body to look at Miles as the pair arrived to their English class. "Don't be like that. It's not a big deal, really." She tilted her head towards the classroom, replacing her annoyed glance with a hesitant smile. "Little warning about this class, just keep your head down and maybe Mr. Chamberlain won't completely drive you insane. C'mon, if we rush we can totally snag a seat in the back."

She took Miles' hand, ignoring the sirens in her head going off at the physical contact and dragging him to the back, where two seats were left unoccupied for the pair.

For the rest of the day, they ignored the small disagreement as Daphne helped Miles get accustomed to life at Visions. They had grown comfortable with each other, exchanging stories, jokes, and finally, phone numbers.
