Twenty-Six

Izzy made it to the church in time to see Vision crash to the ground with Ultron. She drops her guns, seeing Ultron walk towards the core.

'You take away my world, I take aw-..'..

She ran towards him, before he activated it. Seeing his head come up, he grabs hold of her by the throat, squeezing tightly... 'Ah, the new avenger..'

Izzy was in Shadow mode, and just smirked at him, holding onto his arm. She pulled on her extremis power, burning him. He yelled in frustration as his arm came away with her, and she ripped it off her neck, and swung at him with it, knocking him down.

'You will not win..'.. She dropped the arm as he got back up, and she let the extremis take over... 'I will rip you apart..'.. She went for him, latching on, as she glowed brightly, knowing she would destroy him, until he was nothing more than a puddle.

'Boss, are you seeing this?..'...

Tony could see Nix fighting with Ultron in the church, and he knew she had extremis in her. He saw her rip Ultons arm off and hit him with it, knocking him down... 'Seeing, still working on believing. Nix, we need to have a serious conversation after this..'

'Sure Stark..'.. Was all she said. Her voice was monotone in his ear, as though there was no emotion. The way she said it, sent a shiver through him, fear.

Tony saw Ultron rush away, and that she turned back, moving to the core... 'Nix, what are you doing?..'

'Destroying it. You should trust me Stark..'.. Tony landed in front of her, holding his arm out, as she glowed. He moved between her and the core, worried if she really was on their side.

'I can't let you near it Nix. You don't know what could happen..'.. Tony kept his eyes on her, seeing the glow fade, and she tilted her head to him. Not seconds later, Thor lands at her left, and Vision gets up, coming to her other side.

'Stark, I assure you, she means no harm to us..'.. Thor pants... 'She can destroy the machine..'

'She only wants to protect life, not take it. Please, move..'.. Vision takes a step forward, and Tony's mask comes down, as he looks between the three of them.

'I'll move, if you tell me who you are..'.. He said, focusing back on her. There was no emotion in her eyes, but she reached up, removing her mask and tossing it to the side.

He fidgeted as she walked up to him, gripping his suit, and kissed him. Tony had no idea what was happening, as his body instantly reacted, and he kissed her back. All thoughts went flying out of his head, as his arms wrapped around her.

Hearing someone clear their throat, she had pulled back from him, and when he looked into her eyes, all he saw was sadness and pain... 'I really need you to trust me Stark. I would never let anyone, or anything hurt you..'

Tony cleared his throat as she stepped back, and around him. Turning, he watched as she gave him a sad smile, and then tossed something to Thor... 'Just in case I destroy it. Make sure you can do it if I can't, ok?..'.. Tony frowned over to Thor seeing a sad look in his eyes, and the same with Vision.

Spinning back to her, Tony realised she could die. He tried to stop her, but it was too late. She slammed her hands down on the core, pushing her power through the device. She screamed in effort and pain at what she was doing.

'The girl, forgotten by those she calls family. Sacrificing for worthless so called heroes, over and over..'.. Tony looks out, seeing a damaged Ultron up in the air above the city as his voice rang out... 'Do you see the beauty of it? The inevitably. To always save you, but you can never save her. You Avengers, you are her executioner..'

Tony looked back at her, seeing tears stream down her face... 'You are not heroes, you are murderers. The earth will crack, at the weight of your failures. Purge me from your computers, turn my own flesh against me. It means nothing. When the dust settles, not even the people will forgive you..'.. Tony needed to know who she was. She said she had a fiancé, yet she kissed him.

'Boss, we still got civilians in the city. We need to clear the area..'... Tony didn't want to leave her.

'Stark, go. I will protect her..'.. Thor stood ready, close to her side... 'The people need to be moved to safety..'

Tony hesitated, and then his mask flipped down, as he flew off. He followed Fridays directions, helping to clear the building of any remaining civilians.... 'Cap, you got incoming..'

'In coming already came in..'.. Steve groaned as he got up off a car. He had heard Ultrons words, and they echoed in his head. It was now clear, she was their family, but they had forgotten about her. He had a feeling he knew, that deep down, they were related. He had to focus on the battle, hoping she would stick to her word, and tell them the truth... 'Stark you worry about taking down Ultron. The rest of us have one job, tear these things apart. You get hurt, hurt them back. You get killed, walk it off..'

'Great pep talk there Steve. Really inspiring..'.. Bucky grunted out, as he fought a bot. He could hear her screaming from where he was. Ultron was right, she was sacrificing all over again. He kinda wished he had someone love him as much as she loved Stark.

Thor caught her as she stumbled back, clearly exhausted from it... 'Its done. He can't use it now..'.. She panted quietly, leaaning into him.

'Stark, the core is down. She has done it. Now we must stop Ultron..'.. Thor didn't know what to do. He held her in his arms... 'Are you alright?..'.. He helped to lower her to the ground for her to sit.

'I'm fine sparkles. Just in serious need for a cheeseburger and a beer..'.. She chuckled, catching her breath... 'Don't think I'm giving up now..'

Thor smiled at her, and stood, nodding to Vision... 'For the rest of you, I'm fine. I told you to trust me. Now, watch me piss off the terminator..'.. He watched as she pushed to her feet, and made her way to the broken wall of the church.

'HEY ULTRON! COME DOWN AND FACE ME ASSHOLE!..'.. She shouted up at him... 'COME ON! IS THAT THE BEST YOU GOT?..'

'Nix, you got a death wish?..'.. She heard Nat in her ear... 'I'm coming to you..'.. The others all clamoured they would join them at the church, and Izzy watched a broken Ultron fly down watching her. She sucked in a breath, hearing her dad through the comm, informing them all they were there to assist in the evacuation. She couldn't wait to make them remember.

She watches as Ultron raises a hand, summoning his army to him. Izzy smirked, closing her eyes and slipping back into Shadow again. This is what she wanted, to draw attention to herself, so that the people could get away.

Opening her eyes, she stepped out, hearing a few of the team run in... 'You have no power left..'.. Ultron tells her... 'One against all of me. How poetic..'

She continues to smile, and she stares up at him. Pulling her baton from her back, she hits the button for her sword, holding it at her side.

'I want one..'.. She heard Nat say, and Izzy raised her other hand, twitching her fingers at Ultron, beckoning him to fight.
