During Queen for a Day
"We'll never be able to get everyone to safety in time." Rapunzel said, looking distraught. She sighs. "That can't be the only way."
Cassandra looked at the princess curiously. 'What plan does she have to stop this mess?'
"What about Xavier?" Rapunzel asked.
"Your Highness!" Nigel yelled out suddenly. "With all due respect, lives are at stake here! We can't go chasing after fairy tales in our darkest hour!"
"PRINCESS!!" A voice yelled out. It was Quirin.
'Quirin?' Cassandra thought. 'What is he doing here? And where's Varian? Surely, he wouldn't leave his son out there. Would he?'
"Quirin?! What's wrong? Why are you here so suddenly? And where is Varian?!" Rapunzel asked, trying to calm the anxious older man in front.
"That's why I'm here! Come, I need to talk to you." Quirin said, pulling her to the empty hallway.
Cassandra saw the two leave. 'The hell was that all about. Did something happen?'
With Rapunzel and Quirin
"Princess, I need your help. Once this storm blows over, I need you to help me find my son." Quirin said, fear in his eyes.
"Your son? Do you mean Varian?! What happened to him?!" Rapunzel asked, now sharing the same fear with Quirin.
"He disappeared! Out of the blue, nowhere in my manor. It's like he vanished!" Quirin exclaimed.
"What...?" Rapunzel muttered, face going blank. "Why would he do that? He knows of the current situation happening! He couldn't have just left!"
"I don't know. But that's why I need your help. It's my fault for the disappearance, and I want to fix my mistakes." Quirin said, eyes filling with sadness.
"Don't worry, Quirin. Once we deal with this storm, we'll help as soon as possible. I promise. But stay here for now. We don't want you freezing." She said, bringing him back to the room.
"Yes, of course. Thank you, princess."
Time skip
After the whole issue with the blizzard, Rapunzel's parents got home safe and sound. She brought all her friends to Old Corona to search the area without explanation. Cass decided to approach her.
"Hey, Raps. What happened with Quirin back at the castle, and what exactly are we looking for?" She asked.
"Oh, Cass... It's about Varian. Quirin told me he disappeared." Rapunzel replied with a whole new look of sadness on her face.
"Varian's what?" Cassandra paled. She looked at Quirin, who kept checking every corner with fear and worry in his eyes. "Varian's gone...?"
"Yes, Cassandra. And I'm sorry for not telling you sooner. I didn't know how you would react." Rapunzel put her hand on Cassandra's shoulder for comfort. "I think I should tell the others too. And again, sorry for not telling you sooner."
"It's...fine." Cassandra didn't know what to think. 'Varian disappeared? During such a destructive blizzard?? What if he got hurt? Or worse...'
A look of determination came across Cassandra's face. She checked every possible area he could be in, praying for the best, but no luck. The crew searched Old Corona for hours. Looks like someone is officially missing...
Time has passed. It's been over six months since anyone has last seen the young boy. Cassandra put up a missing poster that Rapunzel drew of Varian on the castle's gates.
'Six months... I can't believe how fast time goes by.' She thought. Ruddiger ran towards her and started chittering anxiously at her.
"Yes, yes. I know, Ruddiger. I'm trying to find your human, but we checked everywhere. No one knows where he went." Ruddiger looked at the ground, looking depressed. Cassandra sighs.
"Listen." She says, picking him up to pet him. "We all miss him. The castle isn't the same without his inventions. I have a theory that he might have left Corona. I wish I could leave for a few months to find hi-"
"CASSANDRA!" A voice yelled behind her.
"AH!!!" She jumped, almost dropping Ruddiger. "Eugene, what the hell?! Can't you see I'm busy?!"
"Talking with the weird-looking cat? Yes, you must be so busy." Eugene replied with a smug grin on his face. "But this is important." His face turned serious.
"...it better be good, Eugene." Cassandra deadpanned, putting down Ruddiger.
"Oh, it is." Eugene said. "Trust me."
In Old Corona
"Um... What happened here?" Cassandra asked, gesturing to the big hole in the wall of Old Corona.
"The black rocks happened," Rapunzel said. "Call me crazy, but I think they're making a path for us."
"You think so, Princess?" Asked Lance.
"I do. The rocks are creating a path, telling us to go out there and figure out what they mean. And who knows? Maybe we'll find Varian out there!"
"Raps, are you sure you want to do this? We don't even know where they might take us." Cassandra said.
"More than anything, Cass. We're going out there and find Varian. Oh, and figure out what the rocks mean."
"You heard the princess, everyone. Pack up your bags, everyone. We're going on a road trip!" Exclaimed Eugene.
Cassandra smiled. 'Maybe miracles CAN happen, sometimes.'
In Cassandra's room
Cass packed some stuff for the journey. Some weaponry, clothes, you named it. She was going to leave the room to join the others, but something caught her eye.
The Cassandrium.
Cass put her stuff down and picked it up. A deep sadness started to fill in her eyes. Will they be able to find him during the journey? What if he's... She didn't want to think about it. She failed him once. She wasn't going to let that happen again.
She put the necklace on, hid it under her shirt, grabbed her stuff, and left the room. She wasn't going to give up that easily.
Cassandra saw everyone outside the castle with their new caravan. There was a burning determination radiating from her soul.
"Don't worry, Varian. We'll find you."
