According to a recent fan account, it seems EXO's Lay (Zhang Yixing) felt apologetic during EXO's "Love Me Right" performance on Mnet's M! Countdown this weekend.

Multiple fansites and fan accounts have stated that following EXO's pre-recording for their performance on M! Countdown that the member took the chance to speak to fans saying, "I have many things I want to say [to fans.] It's been a long time since I met everyone and [I'm] very happy to be able to record with the members after a long period of time. Because I've missed many [promotional] activities, I hope you all will not hate me."

This apology comes after EXO's tumultuous past year that began last year with EXO-M'sleader Kris filing for contract nullification last May. Member Luhan filed for contract nullification that following October and the two currently have not yet reached a settlement with SM Entertainment despite multiple mediations and are now beingforced to settle their lawsuits.

The third Chinese member of the subgroup, Tao, is currently not active in EXO's promotions after his father wrote a letter to fans and the public stating that he was taking his son home for his well-being. Currently, Tao is in Los Angeles receiving treatment for his injuries and pursuing his studies. He has been spotted wearing his EXO Cartier bracelet on Instagram recently during his stay in the United States.

Currently, Lay is the only active Chinese member of EXO, which has caused some controversy among netizens as they began comparing him to Tao who, although has not officially withdrawn from the group, is currently not participating in activities andattended a solo endorsement event the same day as EXO's repackaged album release.

In addition, Lay's statement comes after he missed many of the promotional activities for the initial release of EXODUS in April as he was busy in China filming a movie and a new show.

However, Lay was the first one to hint at the repackaged album during an fan-led interview early last month and noted that he while he was extremely busy, he loves EXO and loves to promote with them.
