"I think I might be developing a green thumb." I say to the lady who had been allowing me to call her grams.
"That is good. This helps with brain." She says in her thick Spanish accent. "It is really calming me down." I say while pouring enough water to feed the plants.
"Why? You not calm?" She continues working with her green gloves. ".." when I don't reply considering I don't know what to say she speaks up again.
"Boy trouble?" She says while shaking her head. "Actually no-" suddenly a car pulls into my driveway surprising me.
"Nieto?" I hear gram ask as Ezra leaves the car. "Ezra." I smile widely jumping up as he leaves his car seemingly surprised while looking at grams.
"Aiden." He hugs me back when I hug him, "oh grams this is-" Ezra cuts me off while placing his hand around my waist and holding my stomach. Ou.
"Abuela que haces aqui" he asks her. Wait- Abuela? "We're saving his garden." She smiles at me while responding.
"Buen trabajo. Realmente me gusta esta." She stands up taking off her gloves. "Hollon this the lady you been gardening with?" He now asks me.
"Yes. Is this your grandma?" I'm finding this quite funny. "Mane this shit crazy." Ezra mumbles answering my question.
"Watch your mouth stupid boy." Grams throws her glove at him making me jump away while laughing.
„What a small world." I say as Ezra hands his grandma back her glove. „Come finish." she says while pointing at me.
I nod and quickly give Ezra a smile before sitting back down on the floor to finish. Although I won't be staying here for long I still like doing this so I'll be happy to start from scratch with my new knowledge so I'm hoping I get a place with a big portion of gardening space.
„How long this gon take?" he asks while still standing here. „About twenty more minutes. I made chicken salad, you should find it in the fridge." I say unsure because it was pretty good and I don't know wether I even left anything.
Like I said I didn't know he was coming. This is unexpected and pretty big considering this introduces a new era but I might be overthinking the unplanned visit.
„Aight thank you but hurry up though." he says before going inside. I didn't bother fully closing the door and neither did he, considering we're right infront of the house.
„Mi sobrino esta enamorado." grams says while shaking her head with a wide grin on her face.
I'm pretty sure she said something about being in love but knowing that she isn't aware of the fact that I speak a tiny bit of Spanish I can only assume that wasn't directed towards me so I don't say anything.
„Ezra was raised by you right?" I ask her, „correct." she nods. „was he a difficult child?" I ask interested in his childhood from her view.
„.." she sighs thinking before speaking. „He could be uh handful but fights or not doing what I say.. normal kid stuff. No difficult child, just raised wrong." she shakes her head seemingly remembering his past.
