A/N: Hi everyone, sorry it's been so long since I updated.. I've been super busy with my studies and just haven't had the time to really sit down and write. Here's a short Imagine to make up for the lack of posting :) Cheers!

You take a deep breath and smile in the mirror. It's graduation day. Today, everything changed. You were about to start an exciting journey. You were going to step out into the big, scary world.

You'd figured out what you wanted to do with your life, and you were going to do whatever you could to achieve it. Nothing was going to stand in your way.

You sit down in the row you are allocated in. You glance at the person next to you. He was the weird kid - his name was Adam. To pass the time whilst everyone else was finding where they needed to sit, you decide to talk to him. "Hey. So...what do you plan on doing after school?"

"Huh?" He looks up at you, seeming a little surprised at the prospect of someone talking to him. "I don't know. I kinda like music...so, maybe something like that." He says as he shrugs, seeming lost in thought. "You?"

You tell him what you're planning on doing once you leave school. You go into extensive knowledge about the topic, and he seems quite intrigued.

"That sounds pretty cool. I hope everything goes well for you." Adam says with a smile. He goes to say something else, but he is cut off by a symphony of trumpets, signaling the beginning of the ceremony. The graduation begins and you sit through everyone's speeches.

"Adam Young." The boy next to you gets called out next. You watch as he stands, looking nervous. He walks up to the stage, stumbling up the stairs as he does so. He stands at the podium, looking terrified now. You feel sorry for him.

"I-In celebration of, uh, graduating...I wrote a-a song...and, I would like to sing it to you all today." He then quickly adds. "I-If that's ok, of course..."

Silence. No one says a word. They all just stare at him, and he's beginning to shake. You stand up and shout in support. "Go on, Adam! You can do this!"

He shoots you a quick smile and the music teacher brings up a guitar, handing it to Adam. He thanks the teacher and pauses for a few moments - it felt like an eternity. He takes a deep breath and then begins to sing into the podium's microphone.

"I ain't too sure what I believe in,
But I believe in what I see,
and when I close my eyes,
I see my whole life ahead of me.
These are our hours.
This is our time.
These are our hours.
Out on the verge,
Out on the verge of the rest of our lives.

Out on the verge of the rest of our lives tonight,
Top of the world and we're dressed to the nines tonight.
Edge of the earth and we're touching the sky tonight,
Out on the verge of the rest of our lives.

For the rest of our lives.

From now on,
There's no looking back,
Full steam ahead.
On this one way track.
From this day forward,
I will make promise,
To be true to myself,
And always be honest.
For the rest of my life,
I will do what's right,
I will do what's right,
When I step out on the verge!

Out on the verge of the rest of our lives tonight,
Top of the world and we're dressed to the nines tonight.
Edge of the earth and we're touching the sky tonight,
Out on the verge of the rest of our lives.

The rest of our lives.
Edge of the earth and we're touching the sky tonight.
Out on the verge of the rest of our lives."

When he finishes, it's completely silent once more. Adam looks down at the floor and clears his throat before speaking. "W-was it...bad?" He blushes bright red, fiddling with his hands. The teachers begin clapping loudly, and soon everyone joined in. Some people were cheering, whilst others were on the verge of tears.

Adam grins hugely and passes the guitar back to the music teacher before sitting beside me once more. Adam turns and speaks softly. "I thought that was going to be a complete disaster!"

"You did really well. Those lyrics have a really deep and relatable meaning. You captured the essence of graduating and getting ready for the rest of our lives." You give him a high-five, and just as you go to say something else, your own name is called.

You stand up, take a deep breath, and begin walking towards the podium.

Oh boy...here we go...
