The cover took me three hours and it is entirely the hourglass' fault.
So, as of writing this (July 6, 2023), it has been about nine months since I sat down to write something with the intent of finishing it and having others read it.
Lol. Lmao, even.
I've had this story in mind since I first got into A Hat In Time, about three years ago. It has gone through a lot of changes since I originally came up with the concept, mainly because I learned what character development is. I've also gone from wanting a little goofy story with all of these ideas barely strung together comprehensibly to wanting a story that could make perfect sense as the next DLC chapter. There's a few story beats that still line up with the original draft, but most of it has been completely revamped.
Unfortunately, I am still just as uncreative when it comes to writing my own characters, so I am joining the many that use cut characters so I don't have to do more work. But that's okay <3
Also said cut characters I'm using (Specifically a certain Bonestealer McMoonsprite) have incredibly self-indulgent headcanons because I'm the author and I can do what I want.
I think that's also another thing I've learned that's caused a lot of changes. Writing can and should be self-indulgent, how else are you supposed to enjoy it?
I'll be uploading a reference chapter at some point, which'll hold all of the art and character references that I draw. It'll be up before the story is done, but it'll stay the last chapter.
Finally, I'd like to ask a quick favor before we get started. Just because I am using the cut characters doesn't mean I'm following their original purpose to a tee. Once again, I have some incredibly self-indulgent headcanons. I took a lot of liberties writing this and changed up a lot of backstories and personalities. I'd like to ask that you go into this seeing the cut characters as brand new, never seen before characters instead of our beloved cut characters who already have backstories. Or as our beloved characters repurposed into something new, featuring their very own original backstories.
