Jayfeather stretched, extremely satisfied with the way that he and Briarlight made up. He had nothing else to tell his new mate, and Half Moon could wait. It was time for Briarlight. He touched his nose to her forehead and let out a rich purr before resuming his duties.

Little did he know, while he was having a good time with Briarlight, Leafpool was watching over him. "What were you doing?" She asked.

Jayfeather whipped around. "What are you doing?" He hissed.

"Gathering herbs. It looks like you were falling asleep next to Briarlight," his mother replied.

"Well, you'd be correct. And we're in love, dammit! Don't stop us!" He growled.

Leafpool paused. "Whatever. I don't have that big a say in the matter. Do whatever you want. If you make the terrible mistake I did with Crowfeather that's your decision. I'll warn you, she's going to ruin your life. It's a beautiful day. How about you take a walk?" She suggested, bending down to grab her bundle once more.

Jayfeather hesitated, and then slowly poked Briarlight.

______

"So, about the walk," Jayfeather began. "We'll go with Lionblaze. He might want to take someone, too," he suggested, licking his paw.

If Briarlight nodded, Jayfeather didn't see it because they padded to the warrior's den. "Lionblaze," she called. "Wanna go on a walk? You can bring whoever you like!" She beamed as Lionblaze stepped out, drowsy.

"Uh... I don't know whether I'm making a grave mistake or not... but Berrynose? I guess he's fun when he's not boasting," he decided.

Berrynose immediately hurried over at the mention of himself. "Were you guys talking about how great I am? A great topic, honestly!" He chuckled. Jayfeather rolled his eyes. Whatever, Berrynose. You're extremely unpleasant, and one day someone will have the courage to let you know.

"No, we were going to ask if you wanted to go on a walk, stupid puddle of vomit!" Lionblaze hissed playfully.

"Wow," Berrynose scoffed, shoving Lionblaze in the other direction.

Why didn't Berrynose start  screaming at my brother? That's wack, is something going on between those two? Jayfeather's ears pricked. I mean, I doubt that me, Hollystar, and Lionblaze could have something going on with someone at the same time!

I've got two cats fawning over me, he realized. His heart lurched. Half Moon, please forgive me. Even though we sorted shit out, I still feel haunted by your gaze every night. Just the thought of her bright eyes almost made Jayfeather drool. I miss her so much.

He turned to Briarlight, and his heart did a nice little skip. But... if I chose her over Briarlight I would miss that stupid brown cat like The Dark Forest, he fawned.

The brown she-cat caught him staring.

"Hi, Jayfeather. Something on your mind?" She asked him.

He stiffened. "Uhm, no. It's just that your bright blue eyes really catch me off guard sometimes, even though I can't see them. I can just tell that they would if I could see..."

Really it was Half Moon. Your eyes always reminded me of Ashfur when I saw you in my dreams. A shiver traveled down Jayfeather's spine. I don't like thinking about him. Now that he's dead, he doesn't matter anymore. So I can think of those eyes as my love's. Then why don't I? He shifted uncomfortably, looking down as Briarlight finished her sentence (that he didn't listen to).

"-Pretty, huh? Ya goof!"

"No! Shut up!" Jayfeather growled. He figured that it would be okay to say that, since that was what he said to pretty much everyone all the time. Briarlight would probably just see it as a mood swing.

But she chuckled. "My eyes are so pretty, you have to admit. Alderheart always told me they were so swoon-able, even to someone who couldn't see! Look at us now!"

A puzzle piece slid into place in Jayfeather's brain. That's the pretty thing she was talking about! Yes, her eyes are so pretty. I see them in my dreams only. Hah! If she knew I dreamed about her, I think I would actually have to feed myself death berries or like knock her out or something she can NOT know!

He snickered. "I can't look at us now," he pointed out cheekily.

Briarlight burst out with laughter. "Sorry, O Great Jayfeather, you forgot your kingly feast in the medicine den dining room!"

Jayfeather shared the laugh with her for a spell before Lionblaze and Berrynose stopped bickering.

They began walking through the forest, together chuckling and catching prey. They caught a very fair amount before it started getting dark.

_

Jayfeather tilted his ears towards Briarlight. He could sense that she had one eye on him, staring at him with a smile.

He gave her a little grin too, but that was all before tilting his ears back and lowering his head down to his paws, thinking about how cute that Briarlight was. She was his favorite cat, aside from family. Half Moon following close behind, though. But Briarlight was tied around his heart tightly.

But he could still feel her gaze on his pelt. Sighing, knowing she wasn't satisfied with just a grin, he got up and sat beside her.

Briarlight gave a tiny snicker and then closed her eye, lowering her head and then going limp with sleep.

Her tiny snores and the steady rise and fall of her flank next to his lulled him to sleep.

Sorry for the short chapter and the lack of detail in the walk they had! I guess I have a thing for lingering on stupid relationship drama haha
Anyways, if you're nervous about me putting Lionblaze and Berrynose together, you should be. They are one of my favorite ships, even to my own surprise. If you read my ship tier list book then you'll get to see my more detailed opinion on them, though it may be not detailed at all :D
