PARKING LOT CONVERSATIONS
Please embrace me even when I'm
clouded by fear and doubts,
my heart wants you to stay when I'm
pushing you away with my goddamn
mouth.The more you want to release me,
can you hold me closer than ever?
If you're tired, sit down but please
don't let go of my hand no matter
the weather.The sweat of a man held at knifepoint,
the tears of a woman patching wounds;
fret at little things, appreciation unvoiced—
people start to notice when it's already
doomed.Pause for a while. Breathe, my love, breathe.
My words are nothing but I offer my presence—
touch my skin, hear you sing, just never leave.
Defeat is a blessing in disguise of tomorrow,
not the end of the sentence
in the chapters we now own.
