Twenty-Seven

A few days passed and it was another ordinary school day, Sunghoon entered the classroom hoping to talk to Haesoo ever since his confession to her

He didn't expect her to be in the classroom at this time since she was usually late, though the moment he sat down he looked at the clock to see that class would start soon

Soon the classroom began to fill with his other classmates and when Narae entered the classroom she spotted Sunghoon. By then she already knew what had happened between the two, so they shared an awkward eye contact before she continued walking to her seat

The moment the school bell rang the teacher entered the classroom and Sunghoon's attention hasn't changed, as it was all towards the door, waiting for Haesoo to come in

But even after the homeroom discussion, Haesoo still hasn't arrived

"Don't forget to tell your parents about the field trip!"

Once the teacher dismissed them to head on to their next class, Sunghoon turned around and looked at Narae who seemed to avoid Sunghoon

He called out for her stopping her from leaving the classroom, Narae turned to him and acted normal saying hi before asking if he needed anything

"Why is Haesoo not here? Is she sick?"

"She's just not attending school today because of something"

Sunghoon nodded slowly before asking something else, "It's not because of me right? Or..."

"No! It's not because of you, it's a personal thing she has. See you!" she walked away quickly after answering him

He was thankful that it wasn't his fault, he was hoping it wasn't. But a personal thing? He thought of it, 'Probably about her family?'

He was very curious about what it could be that had made her absent for the day

After their classes it was recess and Sunghoon was walking around the hallway by himself, still thinking about Haesoo and feeling worried about her

"Oh sorry!"
"Sorry"

Sunghoon bumped into someone, that someone another friend of Haesoo's. It was Sunhee

Sunhee also knew what had happened between the two, and before Sunghoon could walk away, "Thinking about Haesoo?"  She asked which made him turn to look at her

"Narae said she had personal problems..." Sunhee nodded, "Yeah that's true," Sunghoon nodded as well

"When Haesoo confessed to you, did she say anything?"

Sunghoon furrowed his eyebrows at her question since he thought that Haesoo would've told them the whole story

"She didn't tell you everything?"

"Well she just said you confessed to her and when we asked questions she didn't say anything"

Soon Sunghoon found himself at the cafeteria with Sunhee, talking about what happened that day. Sunhee wouldn't have expected to hear the whole story from Sunghoon, since she was closer to Haesoo

Sunghoon didn't mind talking about it to Sunhee even if they weren't as close, he needed someone's opinion about it and wanted to know how Haesoo felt about the whole situation

"After I asked if she liked me back, she didn't say anything and left"

"She said she'd explain herself eventually..."

"What do you mean?" Sunhee sighed before answering him, "I've had a lot of conversation with Haesoo regarding, well, you"

"Oh," Sunghoon was surprised, Sunhee nodded her head

"Before the confession, I kept telling her that you liked her, but she kept denying it because of that personal problem that is happening today"

Hearing Sunhee's words, wanted him to just have Sunhee say it, the reason for Haesoo's absence today and why she didn't give him an answer to his confession

"I know she likes you back, just because of this reason she keeps denying it"

"What is this reason Sunhee?"

"Oh, Sunghoon?" Narae was confused to see Sunghoon walking with Sunhee and Chanwook

Narae looked at Sunhee asking for an explanation through eye contact, "What will Haesoo say?"

"He needs an answer and an explanation so he's coming with us," Sunhee says firmly and Sunghoon still left clueless looks at them as if they were very serious

Chanwook wrapped an arm around Sunhee's shoulder before kissing the top of her head, "What if Haesoo gets even more mad? She's already mad at you"

"She needs to explain it to Sunghoon herself," Sunhee replies before she looked at Sunghoon, "Follow us Sunghoon"

Sunghoon did as she said and followed them quietly, he did want an answer and explanation, and if that's what Sunhee was leading him to he cooperated without a question

He found himself on a bus with them as they barely talked, he knew it was a serious problem but he just waited patiently

After the bus ride, they had to walk a bit more before heading to where they needed to go

'A cemetery?' Sunghoon looked at them shocked as he followed them inside

Soon after talking to the table in front, they were led outside, the three seemed familiar since they walked around the place with no hesitation

After walking down a few steps, more and more steps later Sunghoon saw Haesoo from afar

She was sitting on one of the benches that faced a particular cemetery wall

When they were closer to Haesoo, Haesoo heard their steps and looked at them

"Hey, Haesoo..." Narae says first before she walks up to the wall and so did the others

That's when she noticed Sunghoon, "Why is Sunghoon here?" 

Narae and Chanwook looked at Sunhee since she was the one who needed to do some explaining

"This is for the best Haesoo, it's time to explain... He'll understand if you still stand firm on your answer"

Once Haesoo looked at Sunghoon properly he was able to see her face, that her eyes were red and the dried tear stains on her cheeks

The three hugged Haesoo before they left leaving Sunghoon and Haesoo together

Haesoo sighed and motioned Sunghoon to walk with her

Sunghoon slowly followed feeling a little scared, "Sunghoon, I want you to meet Jungo..."

Sunghoon followed Haesoo's gaze and saw the names written

'Lee Jungo'

He then looked at Haesoo who smiled faintly as she looked at his name

Then there, that's when Haesoo explained everything to him the last and most painful secret she kept
